US not getting a lot of support from UN

I'm watching the UN security council meeting on TV, and the US is not getting the support that Bush is looking for. It may come as no surprise to him, but I'm sure nervous about this. I'd rather we have the support of the UN before going into Iraq.

I'm listening..... they want to give Hussein all the time in the world. He is sitting back in his golden palace(s) and laughing his butt off. When we get in there- I bet we will find out that it is MUCH worse than we even imagined!! That's what usually happens.

If it were me, and I was Colin Powell, I would be hitting myself over the head with a sledgehammer by now. How many times can he say the same thing over and over? Might as well talk to a brick wall...

LOL tstobb, I think you are right, that is the point exactly. I wish the UN was supporting us but I definitely agree with President Bush in that we don't need anyone's ok before we take actions to protect our national security and the security of our allies. Saddam is a threat to both us (through his support of terrorists) and our allies and we can and should do whatever we feel is appropriate to control the situation.

I have to say that the more I listen to the UN's point-counterpoint to our position on Saddam, the less I'm supporting a war with them.
I am not so sure Bush isn't using this as a means to bring us out of our economic tailspin.
I am not seeing the direct line between Osama's network and Saddam as clearly as Powell and others must be.
Before we send in our folks to risk their lives, I want more than the UK behind us (and even they are hedging a bit now).

I don't really care if we have anyone's backing for this war, we need to do what is best for America and if everyone else is against us...well, so be it. I can't believe all these people who say give Saddam more time, or those who actually believe what he has to say, absolutely ridiculous. And all of these celebrities who are adamantly against the war, if I recall correctly Sheryl Crowe went to Kosovo to sing for the troups...I really think that if it were Clinton in the White House right now they'd all be supporting him. Where were all these angry voices when he continuously bombed them during his presidency? No where.

War is necessary right now.

But I don't see how anyone can't see the connection. No one here wants to read a LONG post about this but this bafoon (sp?) has lied every step of the way. For OVER TWELVE YEARS NOW!!! And most likely even longer. tstobb's cartoon post is a perfect example. If he claims to have no connection to UBN, or otherwise, it's quite likely he does. I know to a lot of people that doesn't necessairly sound logical.

But it kind of comes down to the "If it looks like and duck, sounds like a duck....etc." Only in this case it wouldn't be "duck" but "terrorist" or even worse things.

We need to take this idiot out NOW!!! Before something like Sept. 11th happens again.

And the UN? Their irrelevant.
Whenever I see coverage of them on TV, it reminds me of the Cantina Bar scene from the first (1977) Star Wars movie.

Since Saddam claims he does not have weapons of mass destruction, then if he really has them (like I think) then MAYBE he will NOT use them if we attack to "prove" he doesn't have them.

The last weapons of mass destruction that did us in were airplanes and maniacs crazy enough to die for a cause....

If we blew up Sadaam and the whole of Al Queda, this can happen again, this is a sad state of affairs.
