Us, Food, Drink, Friends, and Sledge (Hijack update Disney and Napa Rose 12/16)

Camel butt shirts are very common in Egypt. That and the 'King TOT' towel.:confused3

Hey we have Breakfast ADR's at Ko-Zima!:lmao: We are now at the Boardwalk! Thank you wait list!!! Wanna breakfast? 7:30 in the am ?? We have a 12:10 ADR at Tokyo Dine so we could grab a drink before if not?!

Either sounds fine to me. Except that early morning part. :rotfl2:

OK ... I couldn't wait any longer ... had to make the first batch of milk punch tonight. It's good but I think it's better when it chills over-night in refrigerator and "seasons" a bit.

Jay was making fun of me because I forgot whether or not we had brandy this weekend so I bought another bottle. Turns out we had three bottles after this last purchase! So tonight he says, "After this bottle and the next bottle, there's only one bottle left! You'd better get to the store and buy some more before we run out!" :lmao:

Camel butt ... that should be a middle eastern beer. :lmao:

No milk punch tonight but I am drinking a fabulous Italian Pinot Noir ... Feudo Arancio Pinot Noir ... from Sicily.

The label claims this is an elegant wine that embodies the intensity of Sicily. I don't really know about that since I've never been there, but Fat Tony did knock on our front door after we pulled the cork -- he was looking for some collection money. :confused3
Leave the Gun Take the Connolis Brenda!! By the way the DONKEY BOOTH in Italy land doesn't have those Donuts listed on Deb's page anymore!

King Tot!:rotfl2:

Get up! Your leaving anyway! We get in at 6am! Come party!:lmao:

Now I know why I can't find any brandy at the store! You have surplus! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

How dare Italy get rid of the Tom Bombadils????

We are outraged!!

I'm calling Fat Tony right now. :rotfl2:

I haven't told Jason yet! I think he would order a hit himself!:lmao:

Say, I've always wondered ... there is this chain restaurant that's popped up recently here called Texas de Brazil. Do you think in South America they have a similar chain called Brazil de Texas?

So let's end this day! California Grill 5:30 ADR's

This is our first time back to California Grill in years. Jason and I got engaged right after out 1st meal here 80 years ago or so and that night we had an amazing meal, service was spot on, and it was quiet! Since we have been back once with friends and it was horrible! The Food was cold and bad, the room was noisy and kids were running around every nook and cranny you could see! I vowed never to step into the place again -being an cranky pants that I be ! I then started hearing rumbles that the food was good again and people talked about a quiet room called the Wine Room, hmm WINE? Room? Quiet? So we gave it a shot! Our early reservations are for two reasons. One - it was a late night non-MNSSHP and I don't need to see the flipping fireworks from the top! I mean if you don't see them live and in person how do you get that horrible Wishes song stuck in your head for months after?? :rotfl2:

We arrived at the Contemporary at 5:15 pm -
Jason want's a DVC here because it's called BLT because he says anything named after a Bacon -Lettuce and Tomato sandwich has to be good!

We checked in and taken upstairs - at the desk we asked for the Wine Room which they said would be no problem! So we waited in the bar for a few moments until our table was ready!

OK! This was a piece of heaven! The room is so quiet even when full! You also have amazing views of Epcot and Animal Kingdom! I went out to use the restroom after we placed our order for the 1st course and the restaurant was already 1/2 full. The noise level when you walk through the glass doors to the main room was unbelievably loud. It was just normal talking and people eating at this point! I really recommend trying for the Wine Room area if you are having a night when you are with people you want to talk to or have a romantic slower time. It's worth the wait! Heck- If it's day 8 of your 10 day trip with family and you have been wondering "why did I do this to myself?" Go with the main room! :rotfl2:

We told our waiter we didn't know how much we could eat because we had been at the food and wine festival all day eating, so we hoped we could order a course at a time with some wine and see how things progressed. He was very accommodating and offered to bring out wines for us to try with what we chose!

Here we are before the wine and food!
WDW2009foodandwine558.jpg

1st course
Special Flat Bread: Roasted Saigon Pork with Hoisen Sauce, Spicy Pickled Vegetables, Cucumber, Cilantro and Mint -$13.00

WDW2009foodandwine560.jpg

I wish I had one right now! It was so good!!! The pork was like bits of pork belly! It was bacon-lisous!!! It wasn't too spicy but it had some kick!

Wines to go with - Jason and I ended up with a 1/2 glass of each he suggested and split them! The wine pairings he did were spot on!
WDW2009foodandwine564.jpg

Nothing bad with Conundrum!

Then we ordered The Spicy Kazan Roll (Kazan Chop -Bugs Bunny?? Anyone?? Ali Baba Bunny??? Never mind!
alibababunnyprtscr.jpg
)
WDW2009foodandwine565.jpg

Crab,Shrimp,Scallops,Tuna and Fireball Sauce!
It's Christmas (almost) so I will put in a picture of Fireball who the sauce is named after!
282px-Fireball.jpg
:rotfl2:

No the sauce did not have bits of clay reindeer in it - it was a spicy mayo mix that was fantastic as was the whole roll!

Wines that go with Rankin and Bass -
WDW2009foodandwine561.jpg

We then split a salad that was put on the menu that day!
Heirloom Beets with Laura Chanel Goat Cheese and Pumpkin See Vinaigrette!
WDW2009foodandwine566.jpg

This was Big and crunchy and very good! All things with goat cheese are better and if yo like beets this was very good!

At this point we are both full but Jason wants dessert and coffee before we head over to see the Magic Kingdom!

We had the Double Chocolate Semifreddo With Dark Chocolate Glaze! This with our Coffee was a perfect end to the meal! It was rich and just outstanding!
WDW2009foodandwine571.jpg

Our Meal was one of the best we have had in a long time at any restaurant at WDW and we didn't even have room for Main Courses! The service was perfect and I wish I had more room to stick around longer. We have already tried to book for December and can't get in so I WILL be back next year! I am a believer again - thank you Wine Room!:lmao:

Jason and I are off to WDW for a few days in December!

We will have to Dive into the Ditch then and pretend we have the info!

Again? You're going again? I'm sooo jealous but very excited for you! Disney in December is AMAZING :santa:

Ye ChelleinNC -we are off to WDW again! We haven't been for Christmas in 5 years and thought since we don't have family obligations we might as well go while we can! Plus those Christmas Specialty drinks are calling my name! :lmao:

Thanks for reading!

I've been to Sicily and I'm not sure I want to taste the intensity of Sicily.

Great review Chelsi! I'm thinking that when we go next year, we are going to have to spring for a babysitter and have dinner at Cali Grill. I keep reading all these amazing reviews, and I just don't know if I can wait another 2 years for DS to be old enough to go to the kids club before I can eat there!

It was really good this time. If you have a chance go, especially if you like Sushi and or Wine! They really have a nice list of both!

oh and it's Hassan Chop but Kazan is close enough. I was thinking Elia Kazan though.

Were they serving bass? You didn't order one so you could be Rankin' Bass for your review? I might have to steal that for my December trip.

oh and it's Hassan Chop but Kazan is close enough. I was thinking Elia Kazan though.

I know it's Hassan Chop but I kept saying Kazan Chop through the whole meal! It's my favorite Bugs Bunny! and if your thinking Elia Kazan then California Grill does have a Splendor in the Grass Roll! :rotfl2: Opps I mean Snake in The Grass!

Splendor in the Grass roll...:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'd put up some pics of Sicily later but it's *off topic*

you may have realized I am partial to the rabbit season/duck season thing

Gack. And no.

I read this 3 times as 'have a romantic shower time'
I may need a nap.
