I planned on purchasing an AP for me to use during our upcoming trip to obtain discounts on a room at RPH, single day tickets, meals, and purchases. With the dicounts it was right about a wash cost wise, so I was going to give it a twirl. I just called Universal to buy and much of the info I read on here was disputed. I have to say they are not very user friendly. I was told the following:
-I can only pickup my pass at a ticket kiosk or guest services during park hours. We do not arrive the night before until after closing hours so could not get our ticket then. I would have to stand in line the next morning to pick up.
-I cannot order my annual pass over the phone and at the same time order single day tickets with the discount for other members of my party. I would have to go to a ticket booth, pickup my AP, walk in the gate to activate it, and then walk back out and buy tickets for my family. By the time we deal with all that we will have lost way too much of our hour of early entry.
Needless to say I am now debating on whether or not to go to Universal. It will cost us over $900 for the one day if we stay on property, and over $600 if we don't and neither of those scenarios includes food. I do realize the more time you spend the cheaper it gets, but we have DVC points we need to use as well as left over Disney tickets so adding on days at Universal is not an option.
I guess I better get rethinking.
