I haven't made it to Universal yet myself but plenty of folks do both, just like other WDW resort guests.

Our first trip to DVC as owners was Sept. of last year - we purchased PAP for Disney, and Seasonal Annual passes for US/IOA.

We spent more time at Disney, because there are more parks at Disney, but we also love US/IOA because it's different - more of the traditional amusement park rides - more roller coasters, etc.

Just on principle alone, I have never nor do I ever intend to visit those two parks. There is plenty of things to do at WDW.

My two sons really wanted to go back to US & IOA on our trip this month. It had been 4 years since we last visited them. We went to those parks 2 days out of the 14 that we were in Fla. We all had a great time. They have a lot more thrill rides there, which is what they like. Going to eat at Citywalk was pretty cool too. When we were there there was hardly any wait for anything which added to the enjoyment of the park.

While I would never leave Mickey's World if it were up to me, my kids (18,15) LOVE IOA and so does my hubby. We have a day left on multiday passes from last year and are planning to purchase an US annual this year to go with our WDW AP's. When the kids were small we never left WDW. Now that they are older they crave the thrill rides so we go to US/IOA. The parks are very nice and there are some great rides. Many at IOA are water based, something I always thought WDW should do more of.

I forgot to mention that City Walk has a lot more going for it than PI.

Hoo Boy, I gotta disagree with that one. We absolutely hated City Walk, and had a great time at PI.

We did IoA and USF a lot last year on our WDW trips. Had annual passes there and also at Sea World. This year we got AP's at Disney. Don't know yet how regular we'll swap which years to have AP's at which parks.

US and IoA are nice, but they don't have quite the same 'magic' as Disney. I think US has slipped a lot over the years. They just haven't kept it really 'fresh'. For example, while Disney's Epcot has their great ToN parade and illuminations, Universal has discontinued their water show at park closing time.

I think a lot depends on personal preferences and how much time you have each trip.

On 1/31/01 our AP's for US/IoA, Sea World, and Disney all overlapped, so, just for the fun of it, we did a power day....all 7 parks in one day. (USF, IoA, SW, MK, MGM, AK, Epcot). If anybody's interested, I did a page on our home page. (the address is in my profile)

I just put a deposit down on DVC this week, but our family fully plans to go to IOA every trip. With ages from 2 to 36, all six of my family members named their single favorite attraction at IOA. For some it was the Cat in the Hat Ride or Caroseussel, others Spiderman, one a Unicorn rollercoaster.

You simply are doing yourself and your families a disservice if you don't try IOA. And it doesn't mean you enjoy the Disney parks any less or somehow are disloyal.

Our kids LOVE these two parks. The older ones are thrill ride people so IOA takes care of that! Our younger two like US. They like the Nick show,Save Elroy and many of the "movie" rides. It also has a Woody Roller Coaster that our 4 yr. old can't get enough of! There is a "Curious George " land that has ALOT of water for the kids to play in so bring a change of clothes. Our four year old still enjoys the "Barney Show" ( It's really not too bad) They have a new show coming out called "Animal Planet". It should be good. We have had AP's for this park every year since we first went to Orlando. They give quite a few extra perks for Ap holders. We no longer get AP's at Disney, jst aren't spending as much time in teh parks as we used to. IOA/US work very hard for their guests. On our last trip four of our children, our nephew, son's friend and Grandma all got to be on the floats for the Mardis Gras parade, throwing the beads. They LOVED it! We went back two more nights just to throw the beads.
DVC provides great accomodations, but when it comes to entertainment, feel free to look for what your family enjoys most.

Of course we do. The beauty of owning at DVC is that you can use it as your base to visit all the area attractions.

We just returned from staying 8 days at WDW and went to MK and MGM on one day and then spent 2 days at US and IOA. We went for my daughters cheerleading competition at US (they came in first) and had a blast. My 2 younger DD's love US better due to Barney, ET, Jaws but my older DD couldn't get enough of IOA. My DH can't wait to go back to IOA. It was definitley a change for us. We had fun but I don't think the employees at IOA were as nice as Disney. For example, after I got off the Hulk ride (awsome!!) a young lady got very sick on it (she was covered in vomit). Her and her significant other appeared very neat and attractive. When the couple reached the end of the ride area (where you purchase pictures) I saw 2 employees laughing so hard that they had to go into the back room to compose themselves. Not one person offered her a cloth or anything else. It was sad. Even though that happened we will go back.

I say go for it!!! You have 41 years left...lots to see and do in that timeframe.
