I am not familiar with US Airways, really we have only flown Frontier. US Airways has the best airfares for December right now, Have you ever flown US Airways and what was your experience with the service and the craft itself.

That is all we fly. Once and a while, you will get a weird crew member...but overall, the airline has improved quite a bit. I would say go ahead and book. ;) Enjoy your trip!

We only fly USAir since we have mileage credit cards. On our July cruise we waited 2.5 hours for our luggage, this was on our return to Phila. This past Feb we waited less than an hour. Better but certainly not acceptable. :scared1:

My neighbor is a Pilot for US Air, you most have flown on one of his flights ;)

Really he is a great guy & US Air is a fine airline to fly on.

Last time I flew US Air, my flight was overbooked. My husband and I were flying to Florida for a cruise the next day. One of us got a seat, the other did not (due to it being overbooked). The gate agents were very rude and of little help. The next option for a flight wasn't until the next day and we would have missed the cruise. Luckily at the last minute, someone gave up their seat and we were able to fly together.
I live near Philly and they are ALWAYS on the news about losing luggage among other problems. I have vowed never to fly them again...

We usually always fly US Air as it is the only nonstop flight from where we live to Orlando. Overall, they are o.k. I have delt with their customer service department and that was HORRIBLE!!!! Our local news always talks about their customer service (lack of) and I belive that is something they are working on. The flight attentants always seem pleasant. Good Luck :)

The last 3x I flew with them they my luggage was late...thankfully only on the way home. We have a small airport here and not a whole lot of options unless I go an hour north or south. This year for my cruise I booked Northwest so I will give them a try.

I don't want to give you bad advice, so I'll tell you what we're doing. We are also going to Orlando at the end of November/beginning of December. The good fares are only posted through November 2. From Denver, they are usually $75-100 less for December than they are now. We are going to wait a little longer, until the travel web sites travel dates include December. Hopefully, we won't get burned.

After numerous flights over the past year, I can honestly say I haven't had a problem with USAir. Compared to USAir flights from a few years ago, they appear to be doing much better. Overall the airline industry has suffered over the past few years. I generally fly out of a small local airport, and connect in PHL. I haven't experienced baggage problems, and the flights are generally on time, except during bad weather (snow, ice, thunderstorms) which affects all airlines.

We pretty much fly exclusively on US Airways (US Scareways).

The East and West operations are pretty much still 2 different animals. Our flights from the West are still labeled America West.

Other than the occasional hiccup I havent had any problems with US Air than I have had with other airlines.

I don't know what the problem is with luggage and Philly but we stopped flying USAir because our luggage never arrived with our flight. It was always delivered late the same night or the next morning.

Not good if you fly the same day as the cruise.

This is going to get me flamed but the problems I've had with USair have only occured when our flight connected in Philly. Using our regional airport we usually have a choice of connecting in Philly or Pittsburgh and we know now to go through Pittsburgh if we can. The employees throughout the Philly airport are surly. This is particularly noticable when you fly from MCO (very nice) to PHL.

A few years ago we were lucky and missed the "slow down" during a labor dispute that backed up luggage during the Christmas holiday. How mean!

Here is a recent article on the situation:

We had some reservation about booking on USAir to Barcelona out of Philly, but USAir knows that Philly has been a problem and they have taken measures to upgrade the service in Philly. Here's to hoping that the nonstop flight to Barcelona will be eventless.

Another thought, can you fly Southwest to Orlando? Their fares are always the cheapest and we've never had a problem. Sign up for the DING fares and you may be able to save quite a bit.

We flew US Airways and they forgot to put our luggage on the plane in Chicago. They were also an hour late with the flight and the explaination we got is that the weather in Chicago was bad. Well I live in Chicago and the weather was cloudy but not windy, rainy, or snowy. It almost caused us to miss our connection in Charlotte but the plane there had mech difficulties so it also was an hour late. Luckily we flew in the night before and our luggage was shipped to the ship but we didn't have any clean clothes to wear on embarkation. I don't think I will fly them again.

The last time I flew USAirways was Feb. 2006. Some of our luggage didn't arrive with us, as was the case with our previous flight with them. (That time, only about 2/10 bags arrived with us!) It's always flying out of Philly. It's pathetic. Nothing is ever lost on our way home when it's not so important to have.
We switched to SWA and have flown 4 times with them. So far all has been great and since their fares are awesome and they don't charge any change/cancellation fees, we'll stick with them. :cloud9:

This has been true in the past but not always the case. AirTran wanted $209pp from Philly Orlando RT.

That's much higher then we usually pay so I waited for Southwest prices to come out. When they released their pricing last Thursday the cheapest flights were $206 RT.

Just for the heck of it I went to www.kayak.com and did a search for PHL to MCO and got RT tix on AirTran for $98pp.

Usually when they are released they are $138 RT but I guess with the fuel prices so high it wouldn't be profitable at those prices. The cheap seats are usually gone within a couple days. As of last night there was nothing sold out on SW.

They also only released 6 weeks of pricing from August 24-Nov 5.

That's a good way to keep your job.:confused3
You are angry at management for pay cuts etc so you screw up peoples luggage.

People go to different airlines and you get laid off. Doesn't make sense to me.
If you mission is to get the company to lose business which in turn leads to you losing your job, just quit and find another job.

This is a HUGE misconception! Southwest is often NOT the lowest fare, there was just an article in today's Fort Worth Star Telegram showing a study from some group in California that found they were often quite a bit more expensive than other airlines. To me, if I were heading for something like a cruise that required me to be somewhere prior to departure I would NEVER use Southwest for one main reason....the DO NOT PROTECT passengers. What this means is that by their contract of carriage they only guarantee to get to the destination...but no guarantee of time. So, if they have flight cancellation the legacy carriers have the ability to move you to another airline to get you there. Southwest does not do this. Not worth saving a dollar or two for that problem. Just watch a few episodes of "Airline" for some disaster stories of that policy.

Don't get me wrong, Southwest is a fine carrier. But I find the legacy carriers with often better pricing if you book in advance and you usually get to fly to more conveniant airports with less connections. I would only use SW for flights for short hop destinations.

USAir + Philly = NO WAY! :sad2: used to fly usair all the time and since SW has been in PHL, we fly them all the time. USAir was constantly late...never ontime (i think i even saw a report that their flights were 70% of the time, not on time)...... I usually find SW to be my best rate....even got $49 one way/pp this summer :woohoo: now THAT is a good deal!!! :thumbsup2
and i've never encountered any delays or cancellations with SW....their service IMHO, is much better than USAir.

Thank you for the wide range of opinions--based on the majority, although flying out of Denver, I don't think we will use this airline. I don't want stuck with an airline that does not have 100% customer satisfaction. I will hold on and keep waiting and looking.:surfweb:
