US Airways - price adjustment ?

I booked online through US Airways and the fare has gone down. When I called US Airways they told me sorry no credits and gave me a long distance phone number to call to discuss further. Does anyone know if this is correct? That US Airways will not credit lower fares? And does anyone know of other airlines that refuse this? It's very frustrating.

Thanks for any input and info!

Lower Fare Guarantee

When a new lower fare becomes available after a ticket has been purchased, customers are entitled to a Lower Fare Guarantee refund within the following guidelines:

The lower fare is available for the exact itinerary previously purchased.
No portion of the reservation has been flown.
This policy does not apply to transatlantic or transpacific travel.
Lower Fare Guarantee refunds are not available for online ticket exchanges. Certain promotional fares may be excluded.

We will deduct a $100 service fee and apply residual funds in the form of a US voucher. Additional rules and restrictions may apply. Call our Reservations Desk to seek a Lower Fare Guarantee.

Thank you for your response. So if I'm understanding their policy, the only time I would get a refund is if the fare is greater then 100.00 less? Since they charge a fee of 100.00. Is that correct? I'm still wondering if this is typical of all the airlines.

Many thanks!

Most but not all, Southwest lets you rebook online and keep the credits for future use. You have 1 yr. from the original purchase date to use those funds. The funds are linked to that ressie/confirmation #. Once you have a credit, there's also a web page that makes it easy to look up the exact amt. of your credit and the date that it expires.
Their credits are easy to reuse online too. When you buy new airfare, just enter your old ressie # and it will apply those funds, then tell you the new balance you need to pay.
We love SWA, never a change/cancellation fee and they very rarely change their schedule except due to weather.
:cloud9:

Also I believe USAir gives a voucher, not a real refund. Don't know if it's changed lately but a few years ago, we got a voucher from them for the same situation and we couldn't use it online. We had to call to reserve, then we had 24 hrs. to go to the airport counter in Philly to make the actual purchase or else we lose our ressie. Pain in the butt between gas and bridge tolls but I did it just so they wouldn't get to keep it.
