US Airways for $1.86 R/T

On the tv news this morning, they said about a thousand tickets were sold!!!
Never happens to me either!

and I am very impressed that the airline is "honoring" their purchase.

However, I am sure that person who keyed those numbers in wrong is in Human Resources right now.

Isn't U S Airways in bankruptcy court? I'm surprised they ae honoring the mistake and hope those who bought the tickets don't end up stranded somewhere - doubt any other airline willhonor that ticket.

Best wishes -

Since the President did not extend the appropriate bill this year, none of the airlines have to honor other's tickets for whatever reason (default, weather). This is why we switched from US Air this year, couldn't afford to be left with worthless tickets if they go out of business.

I could be wrong, but even under that law, I don't think the airlines had to honer discounted tickets - only full fare coach. At least that is how it used to be, but I haven't traveled extensively for several years (job change).

Most of the time, the airlines did honor other ticket classes, but I don't think they had to - IIRC, the airline with the problem may have had to reimburse the other. Not too likely to happen if the reason for the problem is bankruptcy. That's why you should always buy airline tickets with a credit card - if the airline can't/doesn't honor the ticket, the credit card company will refund your money.

Best wishes -
