Today is Sunday. It is our EPCOT day. I have EPCOT planned for two days because I am under the misguided impression that this is their favorite park. I should have realized there were going to be problems when no one wanted to get out of bed, including my SIL. Now my SIL is actually a real female, not a tomboy like me. She does her hair, puts on make up and perfume everyday. She even does this on days that promise to make you sweaty. Well we finally get everyone ready and we get to the park 5 minutes before it opens. We are there in time to see a family from Texas get to open the park. We head to the Test Track after the rope drop. My DD starts to scream and cry saying she does not want to do this ride. Know I the deal, she crys , I bribe , she rides. I offer the customary Mickey Bar, no dice. At this point, I think that she may actually be scared and ask my DH if we should switch off. He suggests a bigger bribe. I say she can pick out a souvie of her choice at the end of the ride. She concedes, but reluctantly. We all get on. Now mind you, we are on the ride by 9:08 AM. Thanks to the UG. At the end of the ride my daughter says it is awesome and wants to ride again, but she still wants her bribe, I mean souvie. She picks out a pen and a antenne ball and we are off to get fast passes to ride again later. I ask if anyone is game for Mission Space and they all pass. I was glad of this, because I would have been the one to need the souvie bribe to ride that one.
We all head to the Land. Now the Land has some mystical magnetic qualities for my family. Maybe it is the air conditioning. I don't know, but we can never escape it. We get there and I am getting a headache because I forgot to feed my caffine addiction before we left. I grab a cup of coffee and we head to the Lion King movie thing. ESPN kids starts to ask when we are going to Innoventions. "Yeah" Ladies man says, "Innoventions is what EPCOT is all about". DD starts to cry she wants to make cookies. I told them the we are scheduled for Living with the Land. I drag them to Living with the Land . Now I now that is boring, but it was on the UG plan so I felt compeled to do it. Then we are off to watch my DD make cookies at the Nestle exhibit. I wish I could make cookies, but alas it is only for children. ESPN man says we always do what DD wants to do and NEVER do what they want to do. I tell them it is because I am a MEAN MOM. My mom was a mean mom, grandma was a mean mom and great grandma was a mean mom. It is a tradition. We eat lunch and head for The Universe of Energy. It's broke down at the momment , so I let the kids go to Innoventions. Now we have strayed from the plan, so I feel like a UG failure. It is almost time for our Ice Cream Social ressie, so I try to pull the boys out of Innoventions. The Land is pulling us back into its clutches. We get to the Grill for ICS and they put us in a booth. Now there are six of us and they put us in a booth. Everyone is amazed that they put us in a booth. All the characters come along, my DD gets hugs , we eat our ice cream and leave. That is the last time we do that. We head of to the Honey I Shrunk the audience and then the Figement Show. The brood again start pining for Innoventions. I tell them that it is time to ride TT again. They quiet down. Get this, my DD wants another bribe. This time I just laugh. We ride TT .. Due to overwheming demand, we head to the east Innoventions for about 15 mins. I promise that we can come back if they are still open when we finish the 3 countries we have on the plan. By this time, we are 2 hours behind schedule. So the UG plan does not work so smooth. In Mexico, they had some great mariachis playing . It reminded me of my childhood. I love the pyramid. We ride the Mexico ride and then I let the kids play with the drums. There was a little boy at the fountain who was entertaining us by reaching into the fountain to collect the coins. I thought for sure he was going to end up inside. No dice, he did not fall in. He got the quarter he wanted and left. So we moved on to Norway. We had to wait 35 minutes in the Norway ride. ESPN boy whined the entire time. He complained that we should have brought the Game Boys to use during the waits and why are we not in Innoventions again???. My DD wants me to carry her. Ladies man hooks up with some cute girls in front of him, so he doesn't mind a bit. Since ESPN man doesn't have anything else to do, he proceed to tell me every baseball stat in his brain. At this point, DD remembers this ride. She remembers that it drops and starts to whine and cry and demand another bribe to go on. I promise Mickey bars to all . We ride and continue on to China. Now the reason the kids really liked EPCOT last year was for the souvies in China. They got some really cute minature stuffed animals. I can only describe them as looking like someone stepped on them and that is why they were small. None the less, they loved them. Well of course, they didn't have them. So they proceed to play with the sticks. After they almost took a lady out, I said it's time for dinner. We ate in China then decided it was time to leave. By this time, it was almost 7 PM and I never heard the end of not being able to go back to Innoventions AGAIN. My DH was not very happy that we were not staying for Illumnations. He had carried his new compact tripod all day for that very purpose. I couldn't take the heat and the kids where chanting "Pool, Pool, Pool" So we headed back to the hotel and swam until the end of the day.
