US-27 or Western Way to AKV?

AAA and Mapquest disagree on best route at end of our drive. Coming from the north, is it best to get off Florida's Turnpike at US-27 or Western Way? We will be coming in late (about 10pm) on a weeknight.

We always take 27 - only 1 toll fee and typically goes just as quickly as having to travel down to 429 from the turnpike. 27 to 192 to Sherberth Rd and your at the AKL gate.

but lately US 27 has alot more traffic than the turnpike and 429.

us 27 is free (which is probably why it is more popular) but the turnpike and 429 is generally easier.

although now with US 27 - the sign for WDW is bigger and that lane stops at the turnoff for 192 - so it will be hard to miss.

they both take around 45 minutes.

Ditto, using US27 takes a lot more time because of the lights and going through towns.

my brother though the same - so we went both ways (getting a house I hope In Minneola) it took 35 minutes both ways - but US 27 was shorter by 5miles (went to BWV parking lot)

most of US 27 does not have lights - but the towns do - think it has 3 towns - really only two but Clermont is large.

Traffic can be slow on US 27. We used to go that way sometimes before they completed the toll road. Most of the time we did get off on Stoneybrook and take the roads through the neighborhoods. But the toll road is fastest and less traffic. But watch out for the police.

If we were coming during a high-traffic time I would definitely plan on Western Way. Since we're coming in late on a weeknight, I'm still considering US-27, since it IS several miles shorter and I was thinking that with the late hour (and much less traffic) that even with more lights it would be the quicker route. Hmmmmm . . . thanks for the input!

Take 429 South to the disney world exit. it's the easiest and fastest way. It will eventually put you on western way.

I would be inclined to use the toll road. In the common case, they probably take the same amount of time. But, if traffic becomes an issue, it is likely to be an issue on 27 first.

I've never taken 27...but I get a huge kick from finding the Contemporary, then the castle, and Expedition Everest from the Western Way!

(The Contemporary is obvious...and then you look a little to your left to see the 1971 castle.)

love it too and you can see BLT!!!! the only DVC resort you can see from 429

Another plus to 27, if you decide that route, is there are plenty of places to stop for a quick bite, grocery stop or fill up before you get into the Disney prices of places closer to the parks.

Most of 27 is 55-65 mph and pretty open down to 192. It gets a little busy during the week and at commute times, but it usually takes us about 20-25 minutes to get from the turnpike exit to my mom's house (basically at 27 and 192). She's about a 10 min drive to Kidani.
