He thinks that we'll be able to go back and forth to our condo for EVERY meal every day! I had to explain to him that you just don't walk out of the park and there's your car. He just doesn't get it and it's REALLY making me mad! He's the cheapest person I've ever known and drives me crazy sometimes! I'm not even telling him how much this trip is costing (which isn't much considering we are using my parents time share which equals FREE lodging!). Ugh! Sorry to complain but he's just frustrating me.

Thanks!

Go along with him the first day. When he sees what a hassle it is he'll probably change his mind. ;)

One hole in that plan...

He goes to the condo for lunch, falls asleep, and then won't get back up to go out!!!!

I totally agree with Shatz's idea.....if he is that bullheaded about going back and forth..go along with it. Make sure you let HIM drive in the I4 traffic! I doubt it will make it past the first meal trip which would include (at Magic Kingdom at least) navigating out of the park, taking the ferry or monorail, waiting for the tram, catching the tram, finding your car, going to the condo, eating, getting back in your car, passing through the parking fee place to show them youve paid already, reparking, catching a tram, walking to the monorail/ferry again, getting back to MK. WHEW! I would imagine round trip, including cooking, youre talking close to 2 hours! Thats one heck of a chunk out of your disney day just to save a few bucks on a burger!

Not to start a debate, but I would bring snacks into the park with you. The official Disney policy is that outside food and drinks are not allowed in the park, but they do not seem to mind at all, as long as glass bottles are not brought in. I also wouldn't bring a big meal, but we do bring enough food to tide us over until the next meal. I have brought string cheese, crackers, peanut or cashew packets, granola bars, etc.

Maybe if you eat breakfast at the condo and the snacks mid-morning your DH would be willing to eat a late lunch, which would hold you until you are back at your timeshare (maybe with a snack thrown in). Might not work for when you stay until late in the parks, though.

I sympathize with you. I went in December with my son, my sister, and my elderly mother. My sister and I can eat fairly cheap at WDW, but we do like to enjoy a few nice meals at sit-down restaurants. My mother, however, is the biggest cheapskate and it really got old. My sister and I were even picking up the check each time we ate out, but my mother still resisted eating out and made comments when we did. Hard to enjoy a nice meal when someone is worrying about how much it costs

Good luck with your husband!

Maybe I'll just have HIM go back by himself and me and dd will eat in the park (and go on all the rides) and not waste all that time going back and forth. :rotfl2: That'll serve him right! LOL!

One other thing that you might try...figure out how much you will be spending for park tickets daily and figure out the hourly cost. Point out that if you are gone for 2-3 hours for each meal that it's actually costing you not only touring hours, but actually touring dollars. Maybe don't tell him how much the tickets really are really costing, but instead show him the Disney website and base it on the one day ticket cost to inflate the amount. :rotfl: Think he'd catch on? lol

How many days will you be staying and how many in your party? How is your DH about spending $ at home.

It's me, dh and dd4 going. And yes, he's a cheap skate at home too! LOL! Anytime I bring up what ANYTHING on this trip costs he starts freaking out. Everything is paid for already, except for food and souvenirs! I don't know why he freaks out like this. (where's that rolling eyes guy???).

As a man, I am absolutely in support of everything you recommend! :rotfl:

I say let him go and you stay. He will only obsess over the cost if you stay in the parks anyway.

That, or get him a fishing cruise or Richard Petty driving experience, and then tell him you're going to spend the same amount on food as you spent on his one hour trip!

At least the 4yo should be able to eat cheaply. If you will want a stroller for your DD make sure that you bring one. Your DH is not going to want to spend the $ renting one. And that way you'll have some place to put some snacks and drinks to bring in, if you plan on doing that.

How about bringing travelers checks to use for your food and souvies. It might not seem so much like you're spending $. Or you can charge things as long as you pay the bills.

yes, exactly.

and settle for counter service for lunch, takout for dinner back at the timeshare.

My next trip (after the one in May) i want the dining package, Once it is prepaid then no more worrries!

Why not pack your lunch in a cooler? You can go out to the car, eat, and then go back into the park. It's not really that hard to do - we did it last year and it worked great.

Yes, a picnic in the parking lot! Its fast and cheap! Also I have often gotten the kids meal for lunch. It is not a problem at all and plenty of food. They are really not expensive at all. Finially, if you are cooking at the condo take a crock pot so that your meal will be ready when you return for dinner. It saves you some work and will taste great. Head over to the budget board for lots of $$ saving ideas! Don't worry you'll have agreat time even if you leave and return, a little time to relax will help everyone enjoy the time in the parks more. :goodvibes

Actually, that is not a bad idea! If he wants to go, let him go and you stay and have more fun and eat eat lunch at the park.
