DF is doing a spot of DIY, Something we will have to get used to as builders have almost finished renovating our house so soon we will be decorating & assembling furniture etc, But he is driving me mad!

We have 3 very old cast iron fire surrounds that need stripping and repainting. Sounds simple. DF is now onto the second one and I think I am going barmy, It is really a one man job as the paint stripping is fiddly due to the design and then it isnt fair for me to do the fun bit (repainting) seen as DF has done the hard work. However DF sulks when I dont 'watch'' him working (says he gets bored), sulks when I try to help by bringing him tools etc (says he isnt ready for them yet) and sulks when I leave him to it (wants to know what my contribution to DIY is!?!). I can't win!.

Have I got a lot more of this to come once we move in together? I hope not! perhaps it is best if I go out for the day and completly leave him to it!

...and when I do DIY, DW is always on about the tools.

Do you have to leave them here, can't you put them away, what will visitors say, etc, etc.

14 years and she still hasn't worked out that getting out and putting away adds half an hour at the front and end of a day.

Also, do I really need to make all that dust!!!

Anyway, due to too much DIY and the body decaying as I get older I had to have a double hernia operation 2 weeks ago. :sad2:

Now I get, when are you going to be able to do this that and the other? Surely decorating a room isn't going to strain you too much? etc, etc,

Take my advice, let him sit there with all his tools wherever he wants them. allow him to sulk when things don't go right, and make the odd cup of tea every now and then. The job will get do a lot quicker and he'll be a lot happier sooner.

Just tell him what a fantastic job he's doing, how you couldn't possibly do it that well, what lovely strong arms he's got etc etc etc - try to hide your yawns while you're doing it though!!! :rotfl:

Tell you DBF that he would be able to concentrate more if your not there to distract him. Me , DH and diy just don't mix :rotfl:
