Hi hope you can help

I have a friend arriving at LHR on Monday at 15:00 whilst she waits for her connection to Africa at 21:00

Do you think it's worth coming back into London via the tube ? I thought we may be cutting it fine, espeically if we want to have something to eat. But my friend has never been to London before and I feel bad if I don't show her any of it - I don't drive so I don't have that many options.

On that thought can anyone tell me if it is possible to get food in any of the hotels at Heathrow after 3.00pm and if it's any good ?

Thanks ever so much in advance for your help here.

Hi Sam

I would think you would be cutting it fine to make it worth while.

The trains are not the most reliable are they - I would say an hour for the journey into central London, and allow an hour and half back - I really think you'd be better off getting the Heathrow and finding somewhere there to eat and catch up?

Cant help with any suggestions Restaurant wise I'm afraid - no experience of Heathrow in that dept. :D :D

Hope you get a few nice hours together though :D

We made it and had a blast. Rachael's flight came in at 14.35 and she got through immigration about 15.15 so we hotfooted it to Piccadilly Circus then walked down Haymarket to Trafalgar Square, walked on down Whithall - showed her where PM Blair lives stopped at a great tourist shop and picked up loads of souveniers. Saw Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and then walked down Victoria Street - got a bus for a couple of stops - then walked round to Buckingham Palace - saw Green Park and then taxi to "Porters" English restaurant in Convent Garden. Tube from Leicester Square back to Heathrow for 20.15 - her flight left at 21.50.

Phew!!!!

This was Rachael's first trip to London so I was so pleased that I managed to give her a good tour.......I'm now taking bookings ;)

Phew! Glad you managed to fit all that in Sam..........I take my hat off to you! :D :D :D

Sounds like you could set up a side-line in whistle stop tours of London for people with long stop-overs!

Blooming 'eck....Well Done:D
