With Hollywood Studios opening at 9, is it possible to get earlier?

If you have an ADR for a meal you might get in a tad earlier...

The Studios open between 15-30 minutes early depending on the crowds. They will let you go up to a certain point for a pre-show. At that time everyone starts edging their way up - some cut through the shops to get towards the front, etc. The store closest to the beginning will keep the doors closed until the pre-show is done, so there is no way to get around the crowds. Sometimes they hesitate with the doors and good luck cutting back into the angry mob The breakfast idea is a good one, but then again, they do open the gates early for all anyways, so you may not make up that much space by eating breakfast there.....

No. Unless you wait at the doors. Then you will probrably be one of the first in.

DHS twice last week and it's as described above. Both times I think around fifteen minutes before park opening they allowed people through the turnstiles and up the street. There was a short show prior to rope drop.

One time we went to the Fastpass line for Toy Story Mania. The other time we went directly to the ride. I think we finished the ride about the same time we got out of the Fastpass line.

If you arrive a little later and are faced with longer lines go to the entrance where the people are entering for breakfast. It's usually shorter and they convert it to a normal entrance when everyone is let in.

I have an uncle who is departing early that day and we want to surprise him with a special send off from the studios.

He has a comp ticket and just needs to use it. So, maybe a quick entry, quick drop on the Tower and then off!

Tomorrow is my one day dance! Back to the World!
