Dunno if anyone has been locally; but we had to last week & I wanted to report back.
I’m an NP. Day 2.5 of a 10 day trip, brother develops gout. I immediately call him in a steroid pack. By day 4, he is immobilized. I told him he needed to finish the pack, etc. - what do I know,
I’ve only been doing this gig 10 years now.
Day 5, he wants to go to U/C; I left my kids with the hubs & we googled & Ubered to Buena Vista UC- closest to Disney.
Tiny, in a strip mall; new 7,000 SqFt facility opens later this month, business must be good. Everyone was SO nice. We were in & out; no one but the patient allowed back into partitioned rooms. I’m sure that’s different for minors. He saw an MD, got a shot in the booty of Toradol & was told to finish the pack I wrote for him. Also started him on Colchicine, which we had to Uber to a CVS to get filled. The CVS in the lot with the U/C does not have a pharmacy FYI.
This U/C does have some meds on hand, you can buy for cash; ie: if you have a UTI, & need Bactrim, they have it in house. I saw a price list on the wall. Kind of a sketchy neighborhood. Other patients waiting in the waiting room with me did not have masks on, but I’m just hypersensitive to that. Overall, 90 minutes to Uber from OKW to U/C to CVS with pharmacy then back to OKW. Was covered by his insurance & he “felt better,” 2 days later. (Due to my treatment but I’ll let him think otherwise).
