What are the advantages/disadvantages to having our rooms upstairs or downstairs? Trip in October will be my husband and I (BWV) and in early December, sister and I (again, no kids). Is it safer to have a room upstairs-am talking balcony wise, etc?

What is your concern for safety? Someone breaking in through the balcony? If it's that, then I would request an upper floor. I usually prefer an upper floor for a better view. One advantage of a first or second floor is you can get out without using the elevator. The first floor exits out near the pool or the parking lot. The second floor exits through the lobby (then down steps to the boardwalk).

I prefer top floors for better view AND less noise (either from activities going on outside your villa or from the pitter patter of little or NOT so little footsteps in the room above you!) Someone mentioned that the Grand Villas have hardwood floors so if you are below one of those, the noise might be more of an issue. If you use ME, then getting luggage up the steps is not so much of a problem when you check in, but if any one in your group has issues with stairs, be sure to note that when making reservations!

BWV has elevators.

I have stayed in the first floor often - mother is 83 and has health problems.

but I like 3rd and higher - the views are much, much better.
