Hi All -
Just to keep the anxiety going which I should be letting GO of by now....

Just booked last minute stay for August, looking for modes and got an offer for YC for our 10 nights at an amazing rate!!! OMG!!!

Anyway - now that I was reassured on the resort boards on YC and have made all my dinner ressies - I am worried thay will give me the room in the corner basement with the view of the parling lot and the laundry room that's in desperate need of refurbishment!!! :rotfl2:

Has anyone had any experience with getting an upsell rate and any idea as to how they would ( in general) be assigning such a room? When I get there, if I should be unhappy - which I'm guessing not - I still have the same right to request a change, correct??

I still can't believe I got such a good deal that now I'm thinking there's something wrong?? KWIM??

You'll be at the Yacht Club with Stormalong Bay and the World Showcase next door! I don't see a downside to that, even if you do wind up next to the laundry room.

You got lucky on the rate because YC needed to fill rooms during your travel dates. Congrats!

Enjoy your trip! :sunny:

We had one a few years ago with no problem at all. It was a STD. view room over looking the wedding gazebo. Look over the sction about rooms on the BC/YC thread. Then I'd call back with your request.

Congrats on your great rate! :cool1: That happened to me when I booked our trip for June 07. Called for a mod and got SSR studio for like $50 more! Then when we checked in they upgraded us to a one bedroom! It was an awesome room! We loved it:banana: Had a great stay at the Springs!

I don't think it matters at all. It happened to me several years ago and we got a great room at POFQ and this year I got an upsell to BWI. We leave in 4 weeks and I am going to request a courtyard view. I can't wait:cool1:

The person assigning rooms has no idea what you paid. If you get a bad location it won't be due to the discount.

What is an Upsell?

TIA

Donna

Sometimes when a guest calls and wants to book, say a moderate resort, and none are available but they have a deluxe emtpy, they will offer the deluxe at a discount. The rate usually will be higher than the moderate but not a lot, but still allows Disney to book an emtpy room and temp the guest to spend more on the upsell.

You can not request this, it is random and generated by the computer system.

To put your mind at ease.. we were booked for the POFQ this summer for 10 nights. There were some changes (due to unexpected snow days and extending school).. so I had to make changes in the dates. During one such change I was offered an upsell to the BC for 10 nights at a very good rate. It included a standard room, dining and a 1 day MYW pass (we're AP holders).
I was a bit worried too about whether or not we'd get "the basement" room. Well we didn't, we got upgraded to a waterview Club Level room! Full balcony too!(I was worried we'd get one of those standing room only ones).
It was a wonderful room! The concierge people were wonderful too!

We were sprinkled with so much pixie dust this vacation, we really felt blessed!

So don't worry... have a great time. Storm a Long Bay is awesome!! Rent some tubes for the lazy river.. you'll love it!

Thank you all for the replies!

Sammie - Thanx as alwayz - you're the best!

And Anc - one can only hope I have your experience!!!!!... I feel blessed as it is to get what I got and expect nothing more! My kids have just begun to embrace Epcot as well as the restaurants and we ended up with exactly what we needed this trip.

Stay tuned!!! And thank you!

I need to change my dates as well and I'm trying to figure out how to get an upsell. Is it worth it? I was booked for the BC and I was paying $249 an nite (standard view) with AP discount. Is yours much better than that?
Let me know if it's worth the trouble...

If by any chance you do end up in a room you are completely unhappy with call down to the front desk (or go down) and express the unhappiness. Then ask nicely if another room is available. I find Disney to be very accommodating when ever possible. :goodvibes

Hi Bryant -
As Sammie pointed out, the "upsell" rates are just something spit out by the computerto shift around available(empty=unsold) space when the mods are not available. In my case, I asked for a WL quote, and couldn't get ANY available rooms for the entire 10 days. So I asked for a quote for split POFQ and WL. WL would only have woodsview or courtyard, and I was highly unhappy with the numbers.
POOF! Up came YC, whole 10 days. I haven't number-crunched too efficiently, as I didn't figure taxes on room or PH tix or DDP, but I will just say it comes out to well less than $200/night for the room.
Si there was no AP involved - th I checked into that, too - and you cannot really predict what/where/when why the pixiedust rates will appear!
Thatz why itz PIXIEDUST!!!!:wizard:

Sorry to be so nosy!! But it seems like the longer I wait, the better the deals are! Flights just went down again! Yeah! I'm actually considering getting a package deal vs. a AP rrom only rate, because I can get dining for pretty cheap! The only difficulty is that you almost have to book for 10 days to get the availability. I heard you can cancel afterwards to your days that you want, but it sounds like in the terms you might be charged fees..and it's unpredictable how much! I'd love to get an upsell..I'll let you know if it works!!:cheer2:
