Upromise question

Thanks for the link.... it prompted me to do something I've procrastinated on. DH signed up ages ago and registered all of his cards, but I'm not sure he ever registered my cards.... So I am all set. Plus while I was on there I noticed that you can get $$ by using Budget Rent a car. I just made two reservations with them yesterday for this summer. I am going to cancel and remake the reservations using the Upromise code!! Considering it is over $400 worth of car rentals, it should contribute nicely to the Upromise account! .....THanks again!..........P

They also have a Upromise credit card -- 1% on all purchases, an additional 10% if you use it in conjunction with your registered grocery or drug store card (no groceries in my area are part of Upromise). And 2% at Exxon/Mobil gas stations.. again none in my area...

But hey.. at least they gave me a crecit card after I was turned down by Disney due to no revolving credit (High score but no credit cards - just car payments and other installment loan types... I refuse to pay high interest on store cards!)
If you have a CVS drug store make sure to register your card and get more $.

I love Upromise!!! I joined in 2001 and have saved nearly $1000. Everytime you shop online with their merchants (you must access through the Upromise site), you receive a percentage of the purchase price. At certain restaurants, you save about 10%. I'm also linked through both of my grocery stores and I frequent Exxon gas stations. I don' have their credit card yet, but that is my plan once my AmX expires this summer. The savings particularly add up when you link family members and friends to the account.

Right now, if you have a 529 through their affiliates, the money is automatically transferred over to the account on a quarterly basis (I believe there needs to be about $50 in the account, though, to transfer it over). Also, any unused funds in a 529 can be transferred over to family members with no penalty.

Enjoy the free money!! :flower:

I'm signing up and I keep getting an error that says my AOL account doesn't qualify for the doubled savings. Any reason why this might be? I've had AOL for 4-5 years now.

Does your screenname have "master" priviliges? If not, you cannot link your account. Whoever has the original account screenname can go into their account and change your account to master status.

Another reason that you might not be able to link the AOL account would be if you have been TOS'ed for violating AOL's terms of service, which is probably not your case. I would definitely look into the status of your screenname first.

Upromise does let you link to some 529 plans. I have an Iowa 529 for my son (much better than the NC plan) and it's all linked up. Upromise makes a deposit for me every quarter supposedly. I just linked the accounts a few weeks ago, so I should get a deposit from them in late March/early April to the 529. I signed up in September soon after my son was born and I've got $28.33 in the account now. Most of that is from Christmas shopping this year. I try to buy as much stuff online as possible because I HATE dealing with pushy sales people and it really worked out for us. Also anytime I know a close friend or relative who's going to make a big purchase and pay for it with cash, I ask them if I can make it for them with my credit card and then let them give me the cash. I pay with my Disney Visa, so I get the points from them and, if it's a Upromise company, I get the cash back from them too. Since I pay the card off each month, it's a quick and easy way to make a little extra.

We'vd belonged to upromise for a couple of years now, I get the majority of my points via grocery, and also LL bean and lands end, but have close to $200, not alot of money, but $200 more than I did before I started. We even bought a TV last week and I made my husband do it via upromise. I think the biggest thing before ordering on line is checking upromise to see if you can place your order via them. I have all the grandparents and one uncle listed, so they are also contributing also.

You can get $150 for every GM car you buy. I bought my Pontiac Vibe when they were having triple rebates in March 2003, so I got $450 added to my account. I withdrew it and put in my kids Ohio 529's. I'll probably pull more out when I get to another $100. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I can't find anything about the GM purchase on the Upromise site - can you give me more info. We bought a GM a couple of months ago and I checked because I remembered seeing something a year or so ago, but I can't find it now.

Thanks
