Uprading from Hopper to Deluxe then Premium

We have 3 day hoppers that we intended on upgrading to Deluxe APs the day we use our early entry. There is a chance we might make a 2nd trip back during Thanksgiving where 2 of the days will be blocked out. My wife is also a school teacher so obviously any quick trips during the school year this spring will be on the other holidays or weekends.

Would it be advantageous to just skip the upgrade to deluxe and go straight for the premium passes? With a family of 4 even the extra 5% off on dining seems like it would add up quick to help justify the extra expense for a Premium Pass.

I guess I am looking for some extra validation to put my mind at ease since the price difference between the Deluxe and Premium pass adds up real quick...

If it really is worth the extra two days in November and the weekends, etc. AND you are able to pay for it, then I would go ahead and just go for the premium. And yes, you will see the food discounts begin to add up quickly. :thumbsup2

Or just upgrade one of your passes to take advantage of the discounts for now keep your cash, and upgrade everyone else later :) that's what I did :)
ETA: I meant one to premium the rest to deluxe lol I figured you all would know what I meant but figured I should clarify. :thumbsup2

Don't mean to hijack but I've been wanting to ask this question (I think I already know the answer though *NO*)

If you have a Premium pass, do you get any discount on tickets for your family?

No discounts on tickets. :(

But yes, I agree with upgrading one person's Deluxe to a Premium for the discounts on merchandise (no Deluxe merch discount!) and food (as you know, extra 5%), and also for parking, if you park while there. Put the money for the other Premium upgrades aside in a savings account, and if a trip happens where you need the Premiums, do it then. Earn a couple bucks of interest. :)

I also agree with only upgrading one person's to Premium in order to get the discounts - unless there are days you want to go that are blocked out by the Deluxe. Also, I would suggest doing the math to see if you would actually save money getting the Premium. I wondered if it would have been worth it for one of us to upgrade to Premium but after doing the math it was still cheaper for us to go with the Deluxe. But every family is different so add it up for yourself to see. You can see the menu prices on allears.net if you want to estimate how much you would spend on food.

Thanks everyone! I hadn't thought about upgrading just one of the passes to a Premium to get the parking and food discounts.
