UPH to AP?

I need some veteran advice about changing tickets.

I originally planned my annual January solo visit thinking it would be my only trip next year, so I booked a room at the BWI and have a length of stay UPH.

My 18 year old DD decided to come along in January, then I discovered last week I'm be in Orlando again in March. I called central reservations last night asking for 2 things:

1. Keep the reservation in my name but put the UPH in DD's name.

2. Add an annual pass in my name.

The agent was helpful, but couldn't get the system to change the UPH into a name other than mine, the original name on the package.

So . . .

Can this get done at the BWI when we check in? If not, is there another alternative?

This is a completely unsolicited plug, but if it were me, I'd contact Dreams Unlimited and see what their travel agents can do for you. I've never actually booked a trip through them, but I have asked them for several quotes in the past and found them to be very responsive. Only reason I didn't book is that we ended up not traveling during the periods in question.

There are two reasons I make this suggestion:

1. Their people will certainly know what Disney is and is not capable of doing with your ressie.

2. There may well be discounts available that you aren't even aware of. I believe that AP codes were released recently for January stays. If you are now wanting to purchase an AP, you should be able to re-book at the reduced rate if rooms are still available at the AP rate.

To answer your question, as long as you booked the room and pass separately, you shouldn't have a problem deleting the UPH on yourself and adding it for your DD. If the trip was booked as a package, then you must keep the UPH for yourself since you are the holder of the ressie. If you wait until check-in, you risk not being able to make the changes you want, and you would lose the advance purchase discount on the UPH.

At the very least, I'd call CRO, tell them what you want to do (make sure you mention AP discount), and let them figure it out. If you want to try and reduce your own headaches (and LD phone calls), consider Dreams Unlimited.

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade a UPH that is part of a package to an annual pass. BUT, why not just have your daughter use the UPH and you purchase an annual pass.
I don't think anyone's name is on the UPH and I dont believe that you have a bio scan for fingers with a UPH.
There is no advance purchase savings for an annual pass, so, you should be able to wait until you get there or order it on line.

I remember past UPH's of mine (length of stay passes) that had my name on it. I cannot remember if each UPH has the name of the reservation party, or the name of each member of the party on it. If anyone knows how this goes, I would be appreciative of it.

If the room key/UPH/length of stay pass is just generic to our travelling party and the BWI, giving it to DD and my purchasing the AP is an efficient solution.

Gail is correct. The UPH is placed on your room key, which always has the name of the person who's name is on the reservation. I've travelled with immediate family, parents, cousins, etc. Every time, all of the room keys had my name--even those that bought the UPH.

But, not knowing what sort of room rate you are getting, the AP room only discount may still save you some money. According to Mousesavers.com, following are the rates the AP rates in effect January to Feb 14:

Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club - $174 standard, $209 water view

If you are paying more, you may want to see if you can convert your ressie to the AP discounted rate.
