UPH Question

Hi,

Can someone help me to figure this out? Since now there are 2 prices for the UPH - advanced purchase versus buying it at the resort's front desk, I am trying to figure out if you can drop the first or last day (or both) if you buy in advance when staying at DVC resorts.

Are we still getting the 10% discount? I know theoretically they won't drop any days, and it is up to the resort's front desk CM. But to take advantage of the advance purchase discount, is there anyway you can get in touch with someone to get those days dropped?

Unfortunately, the way it is apparently working now is that if you buy in advance you can't use the DVC discount and you must buy all days of the stay. You can use the DVC discount when you show up at the resort and they will leave those days off but you are getting 10% off the higher UPH price than if you purchased in advance. Net effect, Disney found a way to reduce your 10% discount without actually changing it from 10%

The DVC member discount wasn't reduced, only that others were given a discount also and you can't combine the 2 discounts. Since the advance purchase discount is smaller than 10%, DVC is the better way to go. Actually allowing you to drop the first and/or last day of the ticket is the best discount for most people anyway. And technially, the rules are it must be for LOS so they are bending the rules in your favor. Still, we want to get every benefit they allow us to have so let's keep working on it.

Our CM really bent the rules for us last month as he let us drop the first day (we were checking in at 10:30PM) and the last day (we showed him our flight was early that morning). The UPH for the remaining nine days was still very expensive even after discount. It does give you the flexibility to go to the parks for an hour here and there without wasting a full day on a Park Hopper.
