UPH DVC discount

I am trying to decide what kind of ticket to get for our upcoming trip. Can anyone tell me which price the discount comes off of? Is it the gate price or the advanced purchase price?

Sorry if this is a silly question but any info would be helpful.

It's not a silly question.

The 10% discount is off the gate price.

When you stay on points, you cannot buy UPH tickets in advance. However, the front Desk CMs at the DVC resorts are usually very accomodating if you want/need to drop either the day of arrival, the day of departure or both.

The 10% DVC discount is available (only on UPH) at the resort- it's not available in advance. The discount is figured from the gate price.

DVC members have usually been allowed to drop arrivial and/or departure days from the pass (unlike when purchased for other resorts), so include that in your computations if needed.

Thank you both so much for your help. We will plan to do the UPH once we get there, unless,of course, I can convince DH to go back within a year to make an AP worthwhile!! Wish me luck!

Why don't you get the AP and next year go just one week earlier than this year. That way you can get two trips in for the cost of one AP. A lot of DVC members do it that way.

This is my plan, however, DH wants to go to VB or HH next year with his family, so I am not sure we will make it to the parks. I am working on it though, and I am pretty persuasive!!

Oh for the love of God, don't buy the AP!!! I bought them for the three of us before we went in August. And now, we're getting ready for a Thanksgiving trip of 6 nights. And I just booked for a 5 night stay in June. Gotta get as much use out of those APs, you know. It's addictive. If I had gotten the UPHs I would have saved money in the long run.....I would have only gone once or maybe twice. Once you have those in your hands, they start burning, you start saying..."Oh look honey..airfare is only $210 r/t, let's go just for a few days." Yep, that's how it all starts......Beware.
