Upgrading to Premier AP

We are DLR Premium AP holders and are going to WDW for a 9 night trip in Aug. I was wondering if it's worthwhile to upgrade to the premier pass for the trip. We plan on visiting all 4 parks and going to visit at least 1 water park. We have 3 adults and 1 child on this trip. We will likely park hop too.

Any help or input with the math is appreciated as there are too many ticket combos out there.

Thanks

Yes .... It is worthwhile IMO .... We've had the premier pass of several years now. At WDW the pass gives you unlimited access to both water parks, disney quest and more.

We are also PAP holders at DLR with the same travel plans. WDW 8 days 7 nights in sept/oct. I calculated about 3 or 4 different ticket and AP options with discounts with out and included dining with tickets with out. And it came down to buying tickets and hoping for free dining for the cheapest route. I think the turn off for the premier is that in WDW the discounts aren't as good as our PAP in DLR and then you have to throw It the TiW card for dining.
It's worth doing the calcs for your own family I think. Not sure if the AP hotel discounts are out yet for your travel dates but that could be large or small depending on your resort.
Happy planning !

Even just going to WDW once and DL once (both longer than just a few days) makes it worth it to get Premiere Passes. We've also had them for several years. It's a great pass.... gets you EVERYTHING at both parks.

Just calculate if you are going to spend more than $1000 on tickets for yourself at both places. If yes, get the pass. If no, then get tickets instead. But also factor in the 10% discounts for merch and other stuff at both locations and it will probably bring it down to a $950 or $900 threshold to make it worth it for you.

It all comes down to the length of your stays.

I have been trying for a few years to make the math work out, and sadly do not find the above even remotely true. Hoping for this year!

It all really depends on what you need. You need to compare the cost of buying whatever minimum ticket you need for your plans vs. the increase in cost to upgrade to the PP.

If you're trying to squeeze water parks/golf/DQ/etc. in, then in all likelyhood it would make sense but the numbers need to be checked.

DL PAP $ 669
Premier $1012 (half the $979 price is taxed at FL rate of I think 6.5%)
Difference $343

Price of 8 day non hopper ticket = $356

(I rounded the amounts)

You more than break even assuming no park hopper, 8 days of use, not calculating merchandise discount. You will also get Disney Quest/ Water park access. Park hopping, 9 days of use and buying merchandise would make it more than worthwhile.

It is worth it with the Premium DL pass but if you only had the Deluxe it is not.

For me, I bought my premier last May right before the price increase and it was 850+tax. My one trip to WDW had 5 days, and I park hopped most days. A 5 day hopper ticket is 364+tax. A Premium DLR was 650 at the time, so it was worth it for me. Discounts at WDW are much different, only 10% on merch and only a few restaurants, but for me, ticket prices alone made it worthwhile.

When do your DLR passes expire? That's another thing to consider, as it will keep your old expiration date. I was originally going to go last April or May, but with my AP expiring at the end of May I felt it was more worthwhile to wait and put that extra money toward me new pass instead of my expiring one and ended up going in Feb. Unfortunately I got stuck with the FP+ drama, so perhaps it would have been better if I went back in May, but that's another story... ;)

I thank you all for your input. Our DDs passes expire inMay and June, but DH and my pass expire in Dec. i will do the math and try and estimate where we will go and how much we will do to see if its worth it.
