Upgrading to iPod touch-will it play older itunes purchases?

I am thinking seriously about getting the new 32g iPod touch, but I have read reviews that some of them are not playing purchases made from earlier Itunes versions. We have way too many songs that we have purchased from itunes through the years, and if we can't listen to them on the touch then I don't think it would be worth it to buy. I will have to just stick with my older classic if that's the case. Can anyone confirm if this is a real problem?

Thanks so much!

I have a first generation iPod Touch and got iTunes when I got the iPod, so my iTunes library is a couple of years old. I just bought my husband a new 32g Touch and we synced it with my library with no problems. Everything on there works fine on his Touch. I did update my iTunes software each time an update came out, but I didn't have to re-buy all the songs.

ive heard of this issue when trying to use old itunes songs on other mp3 players besides iPods but that was because up until like last year i believe, all itunes purchased songs were DRM (digital rights management) protected meaning they could only work on the iPod but that has since been taken away...as long as your staying with an apple product your good to go as far as your old songs are concerned!
