Upgrading to concierge while staying on pts?

Has anyone been able to upgrade to concierge level (by paying the difference in cash) when staying at a resort on points? We are planning a trip to DL in August and want to stay on points, but staying concierge level would be a bonus.

I was going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel on points. I was told they will book you a standard room and that you can upgrade (for the difference in $$)to a larger room or Concierge level...provided its available when you *check in*. We were interested in upgrading to a 2 bedroom, but then plans changed so we didn't do it.

I was reading on another board that someone was disappointed with the concerge level at GC. Check out the Disneyland Board for more info.
