Upgrading to APs, does everyone have to be present?

We are planning to upgrade to APs on our next visit. Do DH & DS need to be there when I go to Guest Services or can I send them for ice cream while I handle the details?

Everyone 18 yrs of age and over must be there to get the AP.

As I mentioned in my first post, only those 18 yrs and older need be present at all, to get the AP's.

exactly - they never carded our preteen / teen but DH and I both had to pony up our picture IDs. You might be able to explain to the CM that you'd like to send the younger ones for ice cream and maybe they could process the other adults (ie look at ID or whatever) and then you could finish off the transaction.

I upgraded regular park tickets to annual passes this past January at guest services in Magic Kingdom and they did not require my family to be there. I was able to upgrade to APs for my husband, three year-old daughter and myself and only I was present. I guess my experience was different than others here

Likely the ticket CM at the time you upgraded (in the interest of convenience and less hassle)
made an exception to the rule and
issued your husband's AP to you without him being there and showing his ID.

The 3 year would not need to be present to be issued an AP even under the rules.
