Upgrading to AP

If we get a 4 day PHP included in our package. Can we take the passes to Guest Services and upgrade them to AP? The quote I got with the exact same package (same days, same hotel, etc) but with AP instead of 4 day PHP was like $300 more!!
Not sure why because the difference is only like $40 more if you were to buy them not in a package.

And when do we get the actual passes? When we check in?

I'm sure you get the PHP at check-in. To upgrade, go to the AP processing center near the Starcade in Tomorrowland. I assume you can upgrade once you've checked in.

The one thing to remember is you can't downgrade to a lower AP- ie if the face value of your PH is say 200 you couldnt downgrade to a 159 AP (who knows the current price?) you'd have to upgrade to a PAP-

Currently the AP center is over by Space Mountain

Also remember they will backdate your AP to the first day of use ie if you went Mon/Tues/Wed/Thur and APed your ticket on the Thur your AP would actually expire a year from that Monday the first day of use.

The one thing Ive been told to watch for is that once you upgrade you can't use any of the perks your PH gave you (ie if you had the Fastpass option or the ESPN coupon etc)

Yes you can upgrade but remember that the ticket "value" is the value they assign it, so it might be less then the standard price since it is a part of a package.

One thing on those ESPN perks on the back of the PH passes. When we upgraded to AP's in April DH first went to ESPN Zone and got the $10 game card for each of our PH's to use later. Then later that day we did the upgrade. Didn't want to miss that little ESPN perk. I figure they don't care because you end up spending a lot more on food and beverage to get the $10 worth of games. The CM at the processing center even asked us if we had done that, hoping we had so we didn't lose out on that.

What exactly is the ESPN card all about? What do you use it for? Not sure if we would be using it with a 17 month old.

THey wanted $300 for our package to upgrade from 4 day PHP to APs. Everything else in the package was the same - # of nights, hotel, character meal, etc. That's for 2 adults (+ 1 infant). If you upgrade yourself at customer service it should only be like $40 more.

The ESPN card is to use for the arcade games/climbing wall etc in the upper level of ESPN in Downtown Disney. We always upgraded to a So. Cal or Deluxe AP on our last day of PH pass use.

We upgrade on our last day, I get a Premium and the boys and hubby get Deluxe AP's

Deluxe is $179 right now or $228 with parking
Premium was $279 I think
Socal is $129 with parking $178
Socal select is $99 with parking $148
