Upgrading to AP?

I have been told different things regarding upgrading to AP. Please comment if you have experience doing this. I have free dining package booked for Christmas. I have the 10 day ticket with park hopper. If I upgrade to the AP when I arrive, will the price of the 10 day ph ticket be credited toward the AP? Will my free dining be left alone? Will the memory maker begin immediately or have the 3 day wait time?

I am not sure but I think they will take out what you paid you will get MM if you get an AP with that but you will not get the free dinning I think you have to have a room and park ticket and AP dose not count

If you upgrade when you arrive, you will probably get less than face value of a 10 day ticket applied

If you enter a park at least once, you will be credited the full, current gate price towards the AP. (As Disney does an internal ticket bridging process)

In the past, you just needed to buy a ticket w/ free dining package. Some people would do free dining while on a pre-existing AP, and then save the ticket for a future stay.

I don't know about MM (that's a new twist with it being included with the AP - although people who have upgraded to APs mid year have reported that they can see their 'old' previous photopass pictures up to their original AP start date - so it may appear that it doesn't start immediately but I would suspect your beginning of the trip pictures will appear in your account within the 3 days).

I do know we have had free dining trips with 10 day tickets and have upgraded them after entering the park - all ADRs, FP+ and free dining were intact after the upgrade - no problems there. They took the price of a 10 day ticket and subtracted that from the AP price and that was what we were charged. I would suggest you take the numbers with you so you have them in front of you and know what to expect price-wise (make sure you are using ticket / AP prices with tax included so you are comparing apples to apples) . If you get a CM that quotes you a different upgrade price ask for a supervisor or walk away and upgrade at another guest relations or ticket location. We've never had a problem with an upgrade price difference being incorrect but I have read about other folks who have (rarely but it happens).
