Are you planning on going back inside a year from the first day of your Disney days?
With the deluxe AP you get 10% off of most food. With the premium you get 15% off most food, and 10% off most merchandise.
With any AP you get access to deals at the resorts. From the normal discount of something like 10% off rack rate, to the HUGE savings the codes like "AP4" have been yielding (concierge at PP for 169, normal room at DLH for 149, room at GCH for 199).
You also get access to special pins, like...
1. use your AP to get your 10% discount at certain restaurants, and for every $30 you spend in one bill you get a free pin (we spent 80 and got two pins...if we had gotten dessert it would have been 3 pins!)
2. get AP-only pins, for a cost, like the cute one a very very kind AP-holder from here got me (I have an AP but couldn't get down there for it and didn't want to gamble on the pins still being available for my Dec trip).
You get access to specials like being able to pre-order the special POTC3 DVD plus extra things.
With the premium AP you get free parking and no blocked out dates. If you're not going on any blocked out dates but have a car, just one of you can get a premium for the parking and extra discounts.
Especially with an 8 day hopper, the price difference is going to be so low! Especially for the adults (each AP level is the same cost for adults and kids). Even if you are not going again, if you figure out the cost to upgrade ONE of you vs the discounts you could get on food for 5 people and 8 days, I would think it would be worth it.
