Upgrading to AP w/ free Water Parks package

I debated where to put this question - I hope this is the appropriate spot.

I want to upgrade to APs for my DS and I when we are at WDW next month. I have booked the package discount that offers free hoppers and water parks. I have a couple questions about this:

1. Should I compute the dollar value of the tickets I have purchased as part of the discount (to know how much more I will be shelling out) as the advance purchase base ticket? In our case we have 6-day tix.

2. Will we be able to take advantage of the water parks portion of the tickets? In order to do that, should I wait until the end of our trip to do the actual AP upgrade? Just to verify - will I get the full dollar value of the tickets (in question #1 above) applied to the AP even if I have used some of the days? I just am not sure how this water park freebie affects (or if it does not affect) the AP upgrade.

Thanks. Any other advice is appreciated.

I *believe* that, if your ticket is partially used, you pay only the difference in gate price. If your ticket is completely unused, you pay the difference from what you paid (which could be less than gate price).

However, if you use any "waterpark and more options", you *must* upgrade to a PAP, and cannot upgrade to an AP. You can upgrade to a regular AP only if you use no "options."

If you use any of the water park and fun admissions, you will have to upgrade to a premium annual pass.

Whichever annual pass you decide to get, you will get the value of the ticket applied, in this case, a 6 day park hopper + water park fun and more ticket's face value. I did this exact thing last year - paid the price of a 6 day base ticket with the package, upgraded to an annual pass, and the difference came to $137.

I am thinking about upgrading to annuals if I understand this right. I am buying base tickets and getting the hopper and water parks option for free. So you are saying I still get credit for the cost of those 2 options eventhough I did not pay for them. I know you can not get the dining plan if you have an annual. So I guess you can not have a package with the dining plan if you want to upgrade to annuals.

Yes, you will get the credit for the options that you are receiving for free.

You can get the DDP with this package. If you want to use the DDP on future trips with your annual pass, you will have to purchase a package with at least a one day base ticket in order to qualify for the DDP.
