Upgrading to AP on arrival

We were planning on buying our APs for our trip in December to activate on arrival. I have heard that when you only have a AP voucher linked to your account then you are unable to book your Fast Pass+ options at 60 days out even if you are staying on site. I was told you can only make them for 30 days out. Would it be better to purchase regular park tickets and upgrade to APs once we arrive to get to make our earlier FP+ selections? What is the upgrade process to go from a regular park hopper to an AP?

1. I have heard that when you only have a AP voucher linked to your account then you are unable to book your Fast Pass+ options at 60 days out even if you are staying on site.

2. I was told you can only make them for 30 days out.

3. Would it be better to purchase regular park tickets and upgrade to APs once we arrive to get to make our earlier FP+ selections?

4. What is the upgrade process to go from a regular park hopper to an AP?

1. Incorrect.
2. Incorrect.
3. You can do that, but it is unnecessary.

4. If you buy tickets directly from Disney:
Subtract what you paid for the tickets from the price of an AP,
then pay that price difference for the AP.

If you buy tickets from an authorized discounter:
First USE the tickets to go into a theme park,
then, subtract the current gate price of the tickets that you have from the price of an AP,
then pay that price difference for the AP.

What robo said.

We are DVC/AP owners. We can book 30 days out any time we don't have a reservation on site, up to seven days max.

We can book at sixty days, for the total number of days of our reservation, whenever we ARE staying on site.

We go a lot. Our fifth on-site stay with MB and FP+ is coming up in June. So I'm certain on the above...

Even if you have not activated your passes before you book your FP+?

Yes.

You have to link your vouchers to MDE, or it won't let you pre-book at all. But the system allows sixty day advance FP+, as long as you are staying on-site and it can see that you will have admission tickets valid during the dates of your resort stay.

Ok great. Thanks so much!

I recently got my AP vouchers and was able to link them to MDE so we can book FP+ 60 days out from stay. If you have any trouble linking your vouchers just call the Disney IT (407-939-7765) and they will help. They were very nice and helpful with me. Just have your vouchers on hand when you call.

Good to know! Thank you!!
