Upgrading to AP as Part of Bounce Back Offer

Before beginning the resale process, I had used the "bounce back" offer (free dining) last year and made reservations for us at PO-R.

I am considering upgrading the park tickets (park hopper for 7 days) to an AP.

I know I will only have to pay the difference between the cost of these tickets and the cost of a DVC AP.

How do I figure the difference I will need to pay?

Where did you buy them?

If from Disney, it will be the cost of the DVC AP minus what you actually paid for the tickets.

Or - are you saying you still have the tickets from your bounce back offer?

The tickets are part of the overall package purchased directly from Disney. Since the tickets are part of the package, what I am trying to determine is the value Disney puts on the tickets so I know how much difference I will have to pay to upgrade to an AP now using my DVC discount prior to me checking out the last day of the stay.

If I look on the Disney site, a 7 day park hopper including tax cost $424.94 ($335.00+$64.00+$25.94).

If a Gold Annual DVC AP cost $549 + $35.69 (6.5% tax)=$584.69, will I pay $150.75 to upgrade to the AP?

Thanks

I think your math should be quite close.

I don't think you will get the current value of the tickets but instead you will get the value of them from the time of purchase- so if ticket prices have gone up your math could be wrong. You might want to look at historical pricing to see what they were worth at the time of purchase. There is no longer price bridging on ticket bought directly from Disney.

In your opinion, even though I used the current price of tickets based on the Disney website and have no idea the actual ticket prices calculated as part of the package price, do you think I am looking at less than $200 to upgrade to an AP?

i thought the main idea here was to use a day so they are bridged then upgrade them after they are used a day?

I wasn't trying to bridge, what I was told by a CM that I could use the value of my ticket portion of the bounce back package to apply toward the cost of an AP. So for example, if my stay was May 1 - May 7th, before I left WDW on May 7th, I could upgrade to an AP. The date of the annual pass would be May 1st.

and again I may be wrong BUT I am not sure why you wouldn't bridge them first. they may give you a significant amount LESS than your tickets are currently "worth" if you dont' bridge them?
I'm no expert by any means but I do care a lot about my $$$ :)

and you need an expert to help because maybe once bridged you can't upgrade bounceback offer tickets.....i have no clue lol

Thanks for your reply. Help me understand what you mean by bridging them first.

use them first at least once. and while they are still active (before you use the last day or before the 14 days or whatever is up) then upgrade to a DVC annual pass. bridging basically takes whatever ticket you had and makes it the value of the current ticket you could buy at the window. that way you get "full price" for what you already purchased
even further, you need to know what price you should be paying for the upgrade and if you're paying more please be persistent. I have no idea what some of the cast members do but our upgrade was jacked up beyond all recognition and it took a manager to fix the problem.

The rule now is if you purchased the tickets from Disney directly they will not price bridge so they have the value they had when the OP bought them- I don't know what it is but since ticket prices have gone up since then it is not the current gate prices. They will only bridge tickets not purchased at Disney.

I don't remember a price jump of over $50 so I would say that yes it should be less than $200 per ticket for the upgrade.
