Two part question:

Upgrading
We currently have a free dining package with a 7 day, PH WPF&M ticket. We would like to upgrade these to annual passes but once we do, we will lose the WPF&M feature, correct? Can I upgrade the tickets toward the end of our trip after we've visited the water parks & Disney Quest. Like perhaps the last night of our trip? Is that too late? Also, the APs are valid for exactly one year? I need them to expire after 8/27/16. We're planning a WDW stop before our cruise next summer.

Converting a future trip
I have a girls trip planned for October. We currently have a 4 day PH plus dining package. Can I convert this trip to a room only and add the dining package? Then my friend can purchase her tickets thru MDE? Will I lose any of our ADRs in the process?

Annual passes were never on our radar before. But with multiple trips planned, it just seems like the right time to buy them.

If you upgrade the tickets to APs after using any of the WPF&M options you will have to get the premium APs that includes the waterpark options.

You can upgrade tickets at anytime, up to park close on the last day you use the ticket however you might want to take advantage of AP discounts on merchandise so I would do it earlier in the trip.

APs will expire 1 year after you first use the ticket, not the day you upgrade to an AP.

You can absolutely covert your girls trip to a ticketless package and as ADRs are not tied to your hotel reservation you won't loose anything.

Your friend can purchase tickets through MDE or an authorized retailer like undercover tourist and link them to the MDE account.

So the day my vacation begins (8/24) which is the first day I will use my current ticket, will be the day my AP expires even if I upgraded later in my trip, say 8/27?

I'm surprised to hear that if I have the WP ticket package I need to purchase a premium pass. I thought you could upgrade any level of tickets to APs? I don't plan on visiting the water parks again - my kids want to go so we promised them this trip but my DH & I aren't excited about it. Anyway around this??

Correct.

You can upgrade to a regular AP as long as you haven't used any of the WPF&M options. If you use any of the WPF&M options, your only AP upgrade option is the Premium AP.
