Upgrading to Annual Pass

I did a little searching. There are folks on the following thread who were renewing their preferred pass for $159.99 less than a year ago, so I'm guessing $139 is pretty close...

Seems like a pretty big jump for AP renewals from last year to this year.

It was a big jump for renewals last year. Still a pretty good renewal rate, though.

I'm confused... You can book a trip (hotel) with AP rates as long as you upgrade during your stay and present the new AP pass at check out? 2nd question - only one person in a family needs the AP to book and buy tix, right? Or does each family member need one?

I have before bought discounted tickets for others/ non family

I was allowed to buy up to 6 tickets with the AP pass/ preferred

Did this also 5 years back for the discounted Hhn AP tickets


If there have been changes, don't know as I have not looked at the AP site lately

Only one person needs the AP. It is the one who is buying the tickets.

Ditto. They told me on the phone that there needed to be an APH in each room I booked. We had that so it was no big deal, but when we got to the hotel they only checked mine since I was the one checking in and paying. Not sure if that's the norm or not.

I just saw what Mac said about the 30 day renewal period, if we bought annual passes last year, and want to upgrade to the next ap (I think it's the preferred where there are no block out dates) if the pass was used last summer August 20th, then I have to renew and upgrade it by July 20th? Do I then call universal to upgrade? Thank you!

You can renew and upgrade to the preferred with no problem

The date you activated the power pass is the time you use for the 30 day start of renewal

If you first used the power pass August 15, then August 15 this year would be the start date

But you can renew 30 days prior

Last date used is not involved so August 20 is not a date to go by

ok thanks so much! I just checked, our pass expires 8/25/2016-I'm thinking we activated it around August 18th of 2015. We'll be there this year July 24th. So sounds like we're good. Can I call them now to renew, or do I have to wait until we're closer to the renewal date? (sorry only on my 1st cup of coffee, things are processing slow!)

Ok, just called Universal-got all the exact dates, it expires 8/26, we'll be there 7/25 and he said although we'll be a day early, they would let us renew. He also suggested waiting to renew when we get down there, if not it will show that we have 2 types of passes in the system. thanks again!
