Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I was reading the T&C's on the UK WDW website about changing bookings.

Am I right in saying that if I were to change my booking to a more expensive resort, I would only have to pay the difference in cost and there would be no amendment fee?

Also, if my booking came with free dining, would I still get it, even if I made the amendment outside of the offer period?

I TOO would like to know the answer to this. I booked with a travel agent and they are out of the country (Who said they can VACATION?!:)) and CRO hasn't been too much help!! :)

Have a MAGICAL evening,

Andy

If you want to upgrade resorts, no, WDW will never charge you a fee for an upgrade if your past your 45 day. I can't say for the Free Dining. WDW puts out only a certain # of rooms on a promo, and when they're gone- that's it.
If the resort you wish to move to has rooms available for Free Dining, then yes you'd get it. If the Free Dining rooms are already booked up, then no.

All I can give you is a resounding maybe.

IF you are more than 45 days out then you should be able to change your existing reservation without a change fee.

IF there is availability for a free-dining room at your new resort then you MAY be able to keep your free dining discount. NOTE that there is limited availability at each resort for any given discount. Once all of those rooms have been booked then that's it. If you aren't successful with this effort with the booking CM at CRO, then you can ask to speak to a supervisor or Guest Services (I think that's the name- if I'm wrong then someone will give you the right name shortly).

I understand UK packages behave slightly differently, so my response may not apply.

In the US, Until 45 days before date, you can change most of your vacation choices without any fees. Airfare and insurance are the big exceptions to this, those will both follow their own specific terms. After 45, Disney can charge you a change fee, but there's a fair chance it gets waived if the changes end up costing you more money.

The Free Dining is where it gets interesting, with the US packages at least, it's handled as a resort discount, and each resort has a limited number of availability for the various discounts, so you may not be able to carry your free dining over. For dining specifically, you'll probably need to contact Disney and ask them.

And given that I really don't know specifically with UK packages, you should categorically dismiss everything I said :).

Just to caution everyone & the OP - there was a thread on this same topic within the last week. A UK resident with a package booked through a UK TA wanted to upgrade their resort on their free dining package and could not.

What came out of that thread was information that the UK packages could not be changed, but could only be cancelled and rebooked new. And the free dining offer was no longer available for that person to book. I do not know if what specific to the agency she used or it was all UK packages or what.

I also do not know the final outcome - I think she was off to call her TA again, but it didn't sound promising the last I read.

Not sure if the OP is in the same situation or not.

I dug up the thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2932541

Looks like that OP decided just to stay where she was and keep her package the same.

My scenario is a bit different than the OP's.

We are leaving next Sunday (6/17) for 4 glorious and yet not long enough nights for POFQ package with Hopper tix and airfare included. We are now 9 days away.

Last Friday, Disney released a new promo for 25% a deluxe room only package.

When I called CRO, (knowing my TA is in Russia), I was told that the package would be upgradeable with no additional fees on their end and the offer will be good until August 31st.

I asked (since I knew they had access and were looking at my reservation) what the difference in room price would be to upgrade at either YC/BC. That is where we hit the wall, as I was told by the CR that they could not quote me a price, that price would be determined by my TA.

That's all probably true, but not being able to get an answer until Monday is driving me crazy!:scared1:

Not to mention, what if both resorts are filled by then? UGH!
This will be our 1st trip back with our 13 DD since we all learned she has Type 1 diabetes and we'll plan on spending most of our days at DHS and Epcot, so I thought that BC/YC, with their easy access from both theme parks would be an additional bonus, should she start feeling crappy in the sweltering sun.

I guess we'll try on Monday!! :)

Have a MAGICAL day,

Andy
