Hello! I am planning on upgrading my 7-day park hopper tickets to 8-day park hoppers due to flight change that resulted in us arriving much earlier than before. Does anyone kknow how this works? Do I have to do this in advance? Or can I add a day when wh check in at the resort? Or the theme park windows? Doe sit have to be done before we use any of the tickets? I can't believe it is only $3 per ticket to add a day!! Thanks in advance!

use the ticket for park entrance, goto customer service, ask to have a day added

Is it a package? If so, just call them and ask to have another day added. If you already have the tickets, you'll have to go to customer service. It's easy.

1- No, but you can.
2- Yes.
3- You can.
4- Nope.
5- It is.

Fab to know. I mght want to do this as well....

:welcome:P to the DISboards, optibeam!

Note that the cost of adding a "day" (or more) to a MYW ticket can vary depending on how many
days the ticket already has, and how many you are adding.

HERE is the price list.

Thanks a bunch for the great answers!! It is a magic your way plus DDP package. Our flights keep getting switched around, so I was debating whether to add the day in advance, or preferably wait until we get there in case we end up not getting in as early. Traveling with a 2 yo, so can't stay out too late, but hoping to be able to ride Dumbo and a few others and maybe catch Wishes after we arrive!

thanks again!!!

I too have a 7 day and would like to add the 8th. Really can't go wrong with $3.

Just a word.

If these are PACKAGE tickets (Buy 4, Get 3 Free -or similar,) you will want to WAIT to do the Upgrade until AFTER you have used the tickets to go into a park at least one time.

It will "make" the discounted tickets "worth" the current full gate price if you wait to do the upgrade.

OK, so I re-read the sticky as suggested, and I apologize but I am STILL confused abut the ticket upgrade. When I called Disney to ask about the upgrade they said it HAD to be done before the tickets were used at all, but the sticky and your advice suggests otherwise. From my understanding, if I call Disney now to do it, or do it upon resort check in, it will cost $3 per ticket to upgrade from 7-day MYW Park hopper to 8-day park hopper. We did book under the buy 4 get 3 promotion... but how does that make a difference regarding ticket upgrades? Why could we be better to wait until AFTER we use one day? I would appreaciate any clarification anyone could provide... sorry, first time at Disney, and for some reason I am really confused about this!

Thanks again

The phone CM's are notorious for giving out absolutely TERRIBLE info.
Most of them know NOTHING of Disney policy.

Ignore them on things like this.

Yes. USE your current tickets at the park FIRST, then upgrade.

Why could we be better to wait until AFTER we use one day?

The "use a day before you upgrade" is important if
there is a difference between what you originally paid
for your current ticket (if you paid LESS) and what
that same ticket costs at the gate the day you
upgrade.

This would be in the case of a ticket that you bought
from Disney before the price increase, with a special promotion,
or a ticket that
you bought from a discounter.

BEFORE you use a new ticket, and try to upgrade, that ticket is considered to be a "trade-in."
So Disney will check to see what you paid for the ticket and charge you the difference from THAT price to the gate price of the upgraded ticket.

AFTER you use any part of a new ticket, and then do the upgrade, that ticket is considered to be a normal "upgrade."
So Disney will only charge you the difference price as if you had just purchased your current ticket at the gate and only charge the difference between that value and the upgraded ticket.

And it's so easy to use the ticket first, anyway.
Then, at some later point in your trip (say, "day
two,") when you take a couple of minutes' break, do
the upgrade.

FWIW, don't WORRY about WHY you should use a ticket first.
Just know that it is the only way you can save the discount that you may have gotten.

OK- that makes a lot more sense now, thanks a lot Robo! We'll be in a hurry to get into the parks and get going on day 1 anyway, so it will be easier to add that day later when we aren't in a rush anyway. Just didn't want to mess it up and have them tell us we couldn't add another day! Thanks!

I would not add the day until you know you will actually need it. Last trip, we had torrential rain the last day so we didn't go to the parks. We did upgrade to no expiration and added more days on at that point because we didn't want to lose a day and it was cheap to do and now our next trip tix are already taken care of!

Not to hijack the thread but We're going this Sunday for 4 days 3 nights and have the 3 day MYW tickets ($130). I've considered upgrading at some point during the trip to Fl Resident seasonal annual passes. How much would be credited towards the SAP?:confused3:confused3:confused3

You will get the ticket's current full new gate value in the upgrade, even if they have been "all used up" before you upgrade.

The basic formula for upgrades is: you pay the difference between the ticket that you HAVE and the ticket that you WANT.

:goodvibes Thank you so much for the great advice. My sister is going to be able to join us at the end of our vacation and then stay a few extra days.:cool1: So we're going to turn our 8 day park hopper into a 10 day park hopper.:banana: Didn't know exactly how to do that....but now I do. Thank You!!:thumbsup2

When you call Walt Disney World, unless you really know a direct number, you will get one of two offices.

The Disney Reservations Center (DRC) includes Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC), Central Reservations Office (CRO), Disney Dining, and some other lesser known information lines. To the best of my knowledge the DRC locations are in the International Drive area, Tampa, Houston, Salt Lake City and somewhere in North Carolina. There may be more. Some of the people working at the DRC call centers may never have been to either WDW or DL (or both).

The Main Switchboard (407-824-2222) is also where all calls to Disney Resorts go if you are dialing the phone number on the back of your reservations form. Also that is where calls go if you dial the Operator from your room, and possibly even calls to the Front Desk. The Main Switchboard people will, if asked, also identify themselves as Guest Services. They can put you through to any number on WDW.

At both DRC and MS they have access to a computer which has lots of Guest Information and it is very well organized. Actually, all CMs who have access to a terminal, or who even can access the "Cast Portal" from off-site, have access to this Guest Services information. I will often open an extra window when I am responding to people and go into the Portal for the latest official information.

The people at DRC and MS do not deal with upgrades, partially used tickets, or problems related to tickets. They do not know all the rules. The people at DRC can sell unused tickets; the people at MS don't deal with tickets at all.

The people who work in the ticket booths at the Parks or in Guest Relations at the Parks (and this includes TTC, the Water Parks, and GRO in DTD) deal with ticket upgrades and unusual problems on a daily basis. I would not say that someone you talked to on the phone lied to you, but just they were attempting to answer a question when they really did not have an answer.
