Upgrading tickets to AP

Do you find a difference between parks?? I'm going to AK on our first day, and MK on our second. I did my last upgrade at MK and had NO problems with dates or bridging. Kind of makes me think just waiting for that second day might be a good idea :-)

It doesn't matter where, as the CMs are the unknown quantity, and they can change with date, time, and day of the week.

It would make sense to try on the first day (at some point after park entry) so that if there was any problem, you could THEN, try at another location later that day or on the next day.

We upgraded on our first day after EP, at the guest services window outside the world showcase (on the way to the boardwalk). Super nice - we did it at closing and there was no line. Bridged the price without us having to ask for it, and actually suggested that if we did it the next day we'd get the benefit of an extra month (4/30 v. 5/1). I do think it really varies as to the CM you get.

Have a great trip!

Thanks! I would rather get it done at AK anyway so I can get/use my TIW card for drinks later :-)

Anyone know if you can upgrade a non expiration ticket bought (but unused) from last year to an AP?

I've said this before, and I know Robo doesn't agree with me, but at the main (inside the park) guest services desk at Epcot, many of the CMs are international program members who tend to be less experienced (though no less polite or enthusiastic) than the CMs who staff other guest services locations. As a result, my theory is that your chances of getting a CM who doesn't understand the particulars of the upgrade process are higher at this location.
This doesn't mean that all upgrades will be done incorrectly there, or that you won't have problems elsewhere - only that your chances of having a problem are higher at this particular desk. In the future, I'll be sure to do any upgrades elsewhere.

The annual pass expiration is based on the date the original ticket was first used, so it does not matter which day you upgrade. The expiration will not change based on the upgrade date since it's locked in based on the underlying ticket.

Perhaps the CM was talking about the TiW card? That would give you an extra month of usage depending on the date.

Ok thanks- Suppose I will ask before I use the ticket just in case I can't upgrade once i have used it.

Just be careful whom you ask.
(And, THAT is also something you won't know in advance.)

My first Day will Be Epcot, Suppose I have 3 Guest Relations areas there I can ask in! The ticket is not a hopper so It will really need to be done that day.

YES - it was the TiW card. oops.

We were told that tickets bought through a package are "discounted" tickets. But when adding up the pricing of what we have, it doesn't add up right. That would make our standard view club level room around $650 a night which is not what I booked. I booked a RO discount for around $400 a night. And guest services told me that I paid only $294 for our 6 day park hoppers.
Package tickets are sold discounted (wholesale) from original source, Disney Ticket Operations, to Walt Disney Travel Company WDTC (the Disney resorts). The resorts use this cushion to offer resort discounts such as Stay,Play,Dine, Free Dining, Seasonal Discount programs. Normal ticket charge to guest is current gate price. You would have paid either $374+ (if bought before Feb 2015 ticket increase) or $389+ (after ticket increase).
So, in terms of price-bridging, the money difference we're talking about is:
$15.00 x 6.5% tax =
$15.98 per ticket x # of tickets
Any other price difference in the upgrade transaction needs to be looked into.

Is it possible to get a refund on the difference? I pretty much gave up earlier because the CM was taking a long time and I just decided to just pay the difference myself.
You can try other Guest Relations CMs at the parks. Also, you could write an email when you get home. Disney email address is:

You are answering a question from May 18th.

That's fine, of course...
but I imagine she, indeed, already did return home at sometime over the last couple of months. ;)
