Upgrading Tickets from Ebay

Not sure how that works if you didn't buy them from Disney. I would be VERY careful about buying tix on e-bay. You have no way of knowing if there are really any days on those tickets.

OK...first the ticket with shipping and insurance is $140 per ticket and there is no guarantee that the ticket is valid.

1. If the ticket is valid and you are able to upgrade the cost would be $85.20 per ticket..(my estimate)

2. If the ticket is valid and you are unable to upgrade the cost to add 5 days would be $253.47

3. If the ticket is not valid and you are unable to use it the cost of a 7day ticket is $259.86 and includes 7 park days and 5 plus.

Option 1 you don't lose any money but the fact that this isn't a standard MYW ticket upgrading is probably not possible.

Option 2 The cost difference would be that you lose $133.39 plus 4 plus options you would get if you had purchased a 7 day ticket.

Options 3 you lose the entire $140

IMHO...buy your ticket from Disney or a authorized broker...NOT ON EBAY..

It is unlikely the ticket would not be valid. Most of these sellers have 100’s of feedback from Disney ticket sales. I think it is safer than a broker, being there reputation from previous sales is there for the world to look at one at a time.

I would not recommend buying from casual sellers with unused days from last years tickets; these are the ones you have to worry about.

Thanks

Two days and one plus is not a standard combination. If you got on ebay a ticket that had such a combination, the ticket is partially used, or it could be a promotional ticket possibly with an expiration date. (A new MYW two day ticket with the plus pack has two plusses.)

If the ticket is partially used and you go to have it scanned, the ticket agent has the chance to ask you when you last used it. Since partially used tickets are not transferable, one from eBay could be confiscated.

Incidentally partially used tickets more than 14 days old are traded up in terms of pro-rated dollar value, not upgraded (expanded). If this "two day" ticket was originally a MYW 7 day non-expiring ticket with plusses and hopping ($297) its trade-up value now is about $84. and what you trade up to must also have hopping and plusses and non-expiration. SOme promotional tickets can neither be traded nor upgraded and only the ticket agent can tell you. Used together with a new pass on a 6 to 10 day vacation the 2 day pass will give you the full two days but as little as six dollars of value.

While I know there are ticket sellers on E-bay with good reputations, I too would re-iterate that you probably shouldn't buy them on EBay because you can't guarntee the validity.

To me, it sounds like this may have been a Length of Stay pass, where the ticket holder didn;t use the ticket completely, if thats the case, the ticket expired at midnight on the day they checked out.

It could be any of what the person above me has said.

Stick with CRO or the Disney stores to get legitimate tickets... or a reputable ticket broker.

These are most likely convention tickets, 2-day hopper with one plus of Pleasure Island or Disney Quest. The actual retail value for this ticket is $108. Not sure if you can upgrade a convention ticket, as they will probably ask which convention you are attending. Who knows....

All I can really say is this: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I find it so humourous that somebody would think that an unknown person with the knowledge of putting pictures on an Ebay ad is more trustworthy than licensed ticket brokers with thousands and thousands of satisfied customers.

Oh well, to each his/her own. I'll choose to do my business with reputable businesses such as Ticketmania and Maple Leaf Tickets. I know the tickets are valid and any problems can be easily resolved with a phone call to the place of business.

Hello all,

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade tickets I purchased on EBay to the Magic your Way.
I purchased these, 2 day hoppers w/ a plus day.

I would like to trade up to a 7 day at the parks, is this possible? How much credit will they give me?

Thanks all!

What you've got there on the EBay listing is a specialty/convention ticket.

As such, it is NOT upgradeable at ALL.

Take others' advice.

Buy from a licensed broker, or Disney themselves.

She already bought it, so I don't see any point of pointing out the eBay pitfalls. The feedback was good, looks like she did her homework on that part of it (buying from someone with good feedback).
That said, because it's a convention ticket, in the past, they have not been upgradeable. However, I do know one person that was allowed to upgrade it, since they started selling the MYW tickets. She lost her plus however, unless she upgraded to the plus MYW. They knew what the original cost of the ticket was, and it was less than she paid on eBay, so it might not be worth it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing so I won't lecture the original poster but I will say to anyone who is reading this thread - don't buy tickets or any type of WDW vouchers on eBay, because #1 you have no idea if they are good or not, and #2 virtually every single auction I see goes for more than the actual value of the ticket/voucher. Look at people that spend $20 or more each on Q&C vouchers - which give you a fast-food combo meal and a drink! Sure, there are 1 or 2 places where you can get that much worth out of it, but are you going to eat at those 1 or 2 places all week?

As to this ticket, it is undoubtedly a convention ticket which CANNOT be upgraded and may be expired (convention tickets usually have tons of restrictions) and you MAY be asked about what convention you are attending (I've only seen it happen once or twice though).

Only buy from offical, authorized sources. And, although someone may have great feedback on eBay, they still are just a random stranger on the Internet - they coudl decide to go out of business and sell a ton of bad tickets before closing up shop, and it could take weeks (or longer) for the feedback to reflect this since the only way you can tell if a ticket works or not is at the gate.

All that said (for the benefit of those who may come across this thread in the future) I hope everything works out, and you have a magical trip!

N.E.D.
