I have already bought tickets on Southwest and then saw details on the package deals. Has anyone upgraded to a package after the fact? And I assume you have to pay for it in full at time of booking, right?

From what I understand, Southwest Airlines and Southwest Vacations are two pretty much separate companies and that you'd be required to cancel your SWA air reservation but that you can't use the credit towards SWV. Call to confirm but that's my understanding.

I had credit at SWA, and could not use it toward a SWA vacations package. I was told they were 2 seperate entities. It would be like having WDW tickets and trying to use them to upgrade US tickets. Sorry

Southwest Vacations is indeed a separate company that licenses the Southwest name and gets the flight inventory from Southwest. The airline and vacation companies are completely separate.

This is pretty common with airline vacation packages. I think AA is the only airline that really runs their own vacation package division in house.
