Upgrading room with Dvc???

Hi all! We own Dvc, but were out of points, so for this upcoming trip we booked through David's Rentals. We booked a standard view studio at Kidani. My question is this..... If at check-in we ask if there is availability for a Savannah view room, would they let us Pay for the difference of the upgrade?? Thanks, Jane

If you are willing to pay extra, rent more points from David and stay at the savannah view room.

I know you did not ask about this, and you may already know, but I wanted to mention that the chances of getting a free upgrade for a DVC stay is very slim. It only happens when Disney needs to fix an issue. If you want the better view, you should go ahead and book it through David. The points are generally less than paying cash anyhow.

And when renting it really is best that you don't ask about upgrading at check in. You could find that they upgrade you and make a mess of the owners points leaving you a mess to sort out with the owner.

In fact I wouldn't talk to the front desk about changing a Dvc reservation ever.

There are several standard view rooms with a "partial" savanna view

At Kidani, you can choose Pembe savanna view at online checkin and may get a half-pool/half savanna view room, or you may be further back on the narrow dogleg of the Pembe savanna.
Jambo also has some standard view rooms on the savanna with either a "people pen" below you or a visible, exterior stairway.

Neither view is "breathtaking" but it can be nice seeing some animals at a standard price.

Thank you everyone for your insight. I will save Savannah view for future trips with our own points. I never even thought that they could "mess" with someone's points at the front desk. That's awful.
