If you're going to try a deluxe resort, make sue to put it at the end of your trip! It'll be too hard to go from Animal Kingdom Lodge to POP . Have you seen Mousesavers? There are some room-only codes out that will save you money off of rack rates and Mousesavers has a list of them. I love POP Century ... it's a really fun resort. But, if you have the money to stay in a moderate the whole time I'd do that. I like having a pool slide and a hot tub!
It depends on what you mean by upgrade. If you're asking will they give you a complimentary upgrade from a value resort to a deluxe - NO. If you mean can you book just one night at a deluxe with the rest of your stay booked at a value - Yes. The only complimentary upgrades you can get would be within the resort and that's if you're lucky - and it would most likely be from say standard view to preferred view (meaning water view or courtyard view - or a bldng. closer to the foodcourts/bus stops - depending on which resort you're talking about). The only time I've seen people upgraded from one resort to another has been when POFQ closed for rehab and they upgraded those who were scheduled to be there during the rehab to the Poly and that was still with an extra fee -- just a very discounted one. Beyond that - it's usually only within the resort - once in a while I've seen people post about being upgraded to conceirge as well but that's usually been in cases where there was a problem with the room they originally booked.
