If my ticket is a park hopper, can I upgrade it to from the park hopper to water park and more? I just got to CBR today and tried to and they told me no. Is that right or should I ask another guest relations desk. I just didn't think that was right. She told me because Disney sees it as a downgrade? I'm giving them more money but it's a downgrade?

We've done it many times. Ask another guest relations desk. Typically the ones at MK and DTD seem to have the most knowledge. Make sure to use the tickets once, then do the upgrade.

You should ask another CM. Park tickets have 2 options you can purchase -- Park Hopper, and Water Parks Fun & More. The good news for you is, if you have park tickets that already have Park Hopper option on them, and your park tickets are for at least 4 days, then Water Parks option is only $26 + tax to add to your ticket. That gets you entries into water parks, mini golf and 9-hole golf. Entries can be used on a park day, or on a separate day. Two water parks in one day uses two entries.

I think Disney's only downgrade was to hire and not supervise a CM who tells guests stupid things like "adding options for additional money is a downgrade."

I've been thinking about this and here is what I think the confusion is.....you currently have park hoppers, I am assuming that you meant you wanted to upgrade to park HOPPERs with water park and more. If you did not make that clear to the CM then technically going from park hoppers to park TICKETS with water park and more might be a downgrade?

We did it at the water park. It was no problem, and I think it was only about $30 per ticket to add it

That would only be a lateral move. If OP had 4-day base tickets and added Park Hopper, the upgrade would cost $64 each. If the OP had 4-day base tickets and added Water Parks Fun & More, the upgrade cost would also be $64 each. But adding Water Parks to a Park Hopper ticket would be just $26 more, not $64 more. Same with adding Park Hopper to a Water Parks ticket. It's a tremendous bargain.

Agreed, but would it be a downgrade if the CM thought OP wanted to take her hoppers and go down to base tickets to add the water parks?

I think going from Park Hopper to Water Parks would be a "lateral move" since the cost of each option is the same. One option was being switched with the other option, and there was no reduction in ticket cost for Disney.

OP, the CM you talked to was wrong. Go to guest relations or a ticket booth at any park. Whether you're looking to add the WPFun to your park hoppers, or replace the park hopper option with WPFun, it's not a downgrade. A downgrade involves giving you money back.

On the further discussion of process - replacing PH with WPFun on a ticket doesn't require a downgrade to base, it can be done in one step on the computer system. :)

This is correct.
"Lateral moves" in tickets are allowed.

Update: I used the tickets yesterday and then went to the guest service desk at Old Port Royale and had no problem updating it. I asked the lady first and she said yes and that she was sorry that I had trouble the night before. Thanks to everyone for the advice and info. :)

So glad you got it worked out.
Thanks for posting the follow-up.
