Upgrading MYW tix to AP w/ DVC Discount

I'm going to WDW for 11 days in August (11-22, 10 days in the parks). I also want to go next August. If I buy an AP for this trip, I will be limiting my trip next year to early in the month, and higher point season. Can I use 9 days of my MYW park hopper and then upgrade to an AP w/ DVC discount? Will my AP be good for 366 days from the day I upgraded or the first day I used my MYW ticket?

I just went through the same process and unfortunatly when you upgrade to an annual pass, the ticket goes retro to the first day you used the pass. I had a 5 day park hopper and waited till the last day to upgrade it, they processed my upgrad and informed me that my pass will expire 1 year from the first day I used my park hopper. Now I am planning two trips before my expiration date to ensure I get my moneys worth.

That's odd. I'm really surprised to hear that. What happens if it has been more than a year since you first used your park hopper?

I purchased a 10 day park hopper last Sept. with no expiration and only used 4 days. I have 6 days left and was hoping to upgrade to an annual pass with a DVC discount. If I wait to upgrade until after Sept. that would mean my AP would expire before I even bought it.

OK...I must be missing something here. Are you able to upgrade a partially used MYW ticket with no expiration to an annual pass?

What if you have the non-expiration option on the ticket??

The new rules are you can only upgrade a partially used ticket 14 days from first use, even with no expiration. So with a ticket first used last September, you cannot upgrade it. Most of the price is loaded into the first 3 or 4 days, so the 6 remaining days are worth very little.
