Has anyone upgraded their LMT/GAT tickets at the gate?

Did you get full gate value for your tickets or only what you paid for them through LMT?

TIA :goodvibes

Thanks for posting the answer to my question.

Well, I guess we will be cancelling our LMT tickets and buying them through Disney website. On the plus side we'll be able to take our E-tickets right to the gate!!

I don't know if my experience is normal, but I upgraded my 3 day LMT park hopper to a Deluxe AP on my 3rd day. After using my Magic Morning I went to the AP center in DL and took care of the upgrade. I paid $148-ish for my park hopper from LMT, and then fully expected to pay $151 to upgrade to the $299 AP at Disneyland. The CM told me I owed $115. I told her what I paid for my discount park hopper, and that I was prepared to pay the $151. She thanked me for my honesty and told me $115 was what I owed. Anyway, that was my experience in April.

Same here. We bought 5 day passes from LMT for 159 in June for our July visit. After using MM, 2 of us who were returning this fall upgraded to deluxe PP. Cost:$180.00 total ($90.00 each).

why cancel? even with the online DLR tickets, if you upgrade you'll only get credit for what you paid and have to pay the gate price. :confused3

ETA: I wouldn't expect to be like the PPs and get the extra credit, but if it does happens an extra bonus!

Just a thought, maybe if you were to take a new ticket (completely unused) and try to upgrade you will be charged based on the LMT rate. But if you use the ticket first (at least 1 day but prior to last day) and then try to upgrade maybe you'll get the upgrade based on the gate price.

I think I had read that WDW tix works that way, not sure if it applies to DL.

Thanks for everyone's help on this, we jumped ship from LMT and will be buying our tickets through DLR's website. Its only $30 more per person for us to go with DLR and I won't have to stress about if we don't get full credit it costing us $60 per person to upgrade.

It's weird to get all these different experiences. I called and was told by CM on the phone that you would have to pay the difference from what you payed and not full price.
I wish it would be nice and streight.

That's just WDW.

So you are spending the $30/person now instead of maybe later.

Sorry for the triple post. :rolleyes1

They go off the value printed or encoded in the ticket. Since these are oversees offers (LMT is in Europe) picked up in Anaheim I think they are handled differently, not sure why. LMT is fairly new in the Disney ticket market I think, so initially they may not have closed the loophole. I wouldn't count on the price break when upgrading, but personally wouldn't cancel an order and pay more now if there was a possibility of getting that credit later. In the end an AP is going to cost what it costs.

It really would be great if they could have 1 policy and stick to it. Then waffelers like me wouldnt have such a hard time making a decision..... or maybe we would..... or maybe we wouldn't...... :rotfl2:

We're going to order the 6 day PHs, we did cancel with LMT and there doesn't seem to be any issue with that, but we'll see if we get our money back before we go on our trip  Im totally not a risk taker, so I like to have things planned ahead of time.

The price difference between buying online and upgrading at the gate was more than $100, and thats $100 I can spend on fun stuff in the parks!!

Littleprincess, is your plan to upgrade to an AP, or is your scenario JUST the upgrade from a 5 day to a 6 day ticket? If the latter, your plan makes total sense to me.

I kind of had the same dilemma with the 5 vs 6 day tickets. I want 6 day hoppers, but LMT doesn't have them. Getawaytoday.com has the 6 day hoppers for less than disneyland.com BTW. And since you're in Canada, could you not get an even better deal through flightcentre.com?

YES!! Thats excatly it :) We're upgrading from 5 days to 6 days. While I would absolutely love to come back more than once this year I don't think that it will be in the cards for us :sad1:
