Upgrading hotel

I booked our stay with a travel agent. We're staying in Hotel New York next month. I got a notion yesterday that I wanted to surprise DH and upgrade to DLH (he wanted to stay there but I persuaded him to try HNY!). On the Disney website it's quoting me €1,000 more than I paid, including premium HB, which we were going to get anyway. I emailed my travel agent enquiring about the upgrade and they quoted me an extra €1,500. It would be cheaper for me to lose my €300 deposit and rebook directly with Disney!
Any way around this?
I know I can ask about upgrade when I arrive, but that wouldn't be much of a surprise!

When you originally booked did you cost it up yourself before booking with the travel agent?

I think I'd email back and mention that you've costed an upgrade yourself but reached a different figure to them and ask for a detailed breakdown of how they've reached their figure.

The price for HNY was more or less the same through Disney and the travel agent when I booked originally.
I've emailed the TA so hopefully they will be able to sort it out. It looks like they're giving 10% off the rack rate instead of 25% off.

It could be that at the time the TA priced it up all that was available was 10%. I think that when there's an offer on, ie 25% off it's usually up to 25% off and only a set number of rooms are allocated each day for the higher percentage ..... as we've had people on here unable to get a higher percentage offer one day and then the next day they can.

Fingers crossed you can benefit from it without having to cancel and rebook.

Yes I understand what you mean, a bit like flights.
Although, I thought that all rooms got 25% off if staying 4 nights. Anyway we'll see what reply I get!
