Sorry if this has been asked numerous times already! We made a last minute decision to go to DLR in mid-March. We will have GAD vouchers to use but would like to upgrade to 3-day park hoppers. Any idea if that is possible? if it is possible, what would be the difference we would pay? The 3-day park hoppers are $149 each for the time we will be there. TIA.

Yes it is possible. When you go to the Park, you will get a 1 day ticket for your voucher. Before the Park closs on that day, you can upgrade your ticket to a 3-day park hopper. You will pay the difference in value between a 1 day / 1 park ticket and a 3 day PH.

possible, unfortunately you will be paying the "ticket booth price" for the tickets, not the advance purchase price. ticket booth price is $184

started a thread on this a while back.

I read through the other threads on this and got a lot of good info. Thanks for the heads up! It looks like if we decide to go for just 2 days versus 3, I'll be getting more of a value.

If we decide to upgrade to 2-day parkhoppers, is this what I could do?

1) Use my GAD voucher to get a one-day, one-park ticket in the morning.
2) Mid-day I will upgrade my one-day ticket to a 2-day parkhopper.
3) Then I'll be able to hop between both parks for the latter part of my 1st day and all of my 2nd day.

The 2-day parkhoppers are $151, so subtracting the value of the GAD ticket
($72), I will be paying $79 for a 2-day parkhopper pass.

Correct?

Yes, this is correct. We just did this last month. Not quite sure why you would need to wait until mid-day to upgrade ticket. We did it all at once at the ticket booth and it was $79. They gave us our one day ticket after they checked birth certs & ID's, then they sent us to the next window to upgrade to park hoppers. Have fun!

This is what I wanted to do also. You mention birth certificates. . . do I need a birth certificate as an adult? I usually only travel with my driver's license.

The voucher states that adults need a DL, a government issued passport or photo id. Children under 18 need a birth certificate (it says copy or original).

The reason why I was planning to upgrade mid-day is I want to get into the park as early as possible before lines get long. Every minute counts in my experience.

Since I have 4 children and 2 adults to exchange vouchers for, I'm assuming this will take a few minutes.

By the way, do my kids need to be in line with me when I'm exchanging the GAD vouchers? I will not be using picture IDs for them, but I will have their birth certificates.

From Disney's website:
"...the Guest whose name is on the voucher must be present at the time of ticket redemption (for example, parents cannot redeem tickets for their children in their absence.)"

Another question...can kids under 18 use passports instead of birth certificates?

Valid ID is one of the following: valid Government Issued Passport, valid Driver’s License including a photo, or valid Government Issued Photo ID. For children under 18 who do not have any of the previous listed IDs, a copy of a Birth Certificate is acceptable. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed Government-Issued Photo IDs and will not be accepted.

The CM looked at each voucher & the corresponding birth certificate/id. Then they gave each one of us a button with our name on it. When we went to upgrade to hoppers, they did not need id or the children to be there, just some $ to pay the difference. :thumbsup2

I'm planning on doing this exact same thing at the end of April. My husband gets a discount through his job and so we were planning on just doing our first day at disneyland only using the GAD vouchers, then paying $88 (adult) and $78 (child) through his work for a one day park hopper for the 2nd day at both parks but this is a better deal.

Here are my few questions...Is there tax on the $79 difference? Also, where do you go to redeem and upgrade? Just a reg ticket window? Can't you do this before the park even opens while everyone is waiting?

Hey, just wondering if anyone had any follow up info on this. I am going and redeeming GAD vouchers for 2day parkhoppers, this can be done at the gate?

Any idea of this can be done the day before and converted to the parkhoppers? We get in around 8pm the day before and I think it would save a load of time if we could get the tickets redeemed for 2-day parkhoppers the day before.

I know the FAQ on the website says the GAD tickets must be redeemed and used the same day, but if converted, can they be done before using them?

Thanks

I believe someone somewhere on this board discussed this before and the answer is that you have to convert them the day you use them.
