I know that we can do this easily, and we have done it before, but we have always done it on our very first day and never even used the tickets that we had. We are planning on buying the delux AP which has 2 blackout dates for the time we are going, unfortuately one of them is the day we arrive. I am not sure that I could arrive at DLR and not go to DL/CA. I know we can get black out day tickets and still go, but I think that's just spending extra $ we dont' need to since we are buying the AP's when we go. That would be better if we already had AP's.

So here's my question ... if we buy PH's then upgrade to a delux AP, from which day is it active? From the day we get the AP or the day we first used our PH's that we're "trading" in?

I am not worried about the EE days since we are staying on site (yippee!! our first time on site!!!) and 5 days really doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things, I was just wondering.

I've never had an AP, but I've read that you can upgrade from PH to AP up to the point you leave the park on your last day. Once you leave and the PH is used up, you may not upgrade, you'd have to pay full price.

I've read that the AP is good one year from the date of your upgrade; I've also heard it's good one year from the first day of your PH. So I'm really not sure which is correct. Hopefully someone else can clarify. :)

Your a/p would be back dated to the first day you used your parkhopper. Now and then the cm will forget to backdate it and date it for the date you got the ap, but that is rare. If there are two black out dates during your trip, you can use the ph the first blackout day, then upgrade on the 2nd one if you would like. You wont have to pay the $30 for the blackout ticket, and they'll let you in. Be sure to keep your receipt with you, they might question you at the gate. I had one cm at DL question me and make me provide a receipt. The other DL cm and the DCA cm didnt bat an eye.

I figured it would be dated back to the first use of yor PH, that's understandable.

hlptimes2 - which receipt are you talking about? For the AP when you upgrade?

Yes, your upgrade receipt. Because your a/p will be backdated it will show you bought it on a non- black out date and they'll think you need a blackout ticket at the gate. If you can show you just upgraded that day you'll be fine.
