Upgrading free tickets?

Not sure if anyone knows....but figured I'd try. We haven't gotten the info yet on the free trip...being mailed to us...so I can't read the fine print yet :-)

Included in the trip is a 2-day parkhopper. Right now, our thought is to use the park hopper Labor Day weekend since our SoCal passes aren't valid on those days.

After using the free parkhopper passes, do you think they will let us upgrade to the SoCal AP? I'm thinking it would be around $40pp for the entire year? Would they let me do it even though the original passes were part of the package that we won?

And...here's the greedy part :-) ...would you think that they would just make the expiration date of the passes for Nov of next year (my passes expire in Nov), or would they expire in September of the following year?

Hmmm.....??

I would bet that...if the tickets say 'complimentary' on them, they can't be upgraded.

I wonder if they will have an expiration date on them. If not, I wonder if they would be of more value to keep for a future trip, and just pay $80 each to get blockout passes over the weekend? Though if they can't be upgraded, maybe it's not worth doing that.

I agree with Bumbershoot they will most likely be marked Comp. and have no value for an upgrade.

I am almost positive this far out if you wanted to adjust your AP the only option would most likely be a upgrade to a higher pass. I have only seen pre-purchases of expiring passes very close to the expiration dates, and I believe they had their dates changed to the earlier date.

Have fun with your free tickets though!

Maybe you should PM Pooh'sTwin (Mike) or Wendi2000 and ask them if their Fox/Disney paperwork had any fine print that prohibited Hopper upgrades of any kind - they won 2 out of the 3 rounds of last winter's Fox/DLR contest I posted the info for. They could be special Fox contest-win-only Park Hoppers or some crazy thing, so either Pooh'sTwin or Wendi2000 would know:goodvibes

Complimentary tickets cannot be upgraded.

In any case, they would forward-date the start of your AP to November.

If you already have an AP, and it sounds like you have a SoCal AP, then you can ONLY upgrade with a block out ticket. No exceptions. This prevents people from getting a multi-day ticket from a leaving tourist and turning it into an upgrade.
And yes, if you already have an AP, your upgrade will be retroactive to your original date, not pro-rated in any way.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(
