Upgrading Flights

I don't think you're ever "safe" until you're sitting in the seat. I once had assigned seats for about 4 months. Checked in, boarded the flight, and found someone sitting in my wife's seat. So, somewhere in the 90 min between check-in and getting onto the flight, somebody at the airline reassigned the seat (even though the seat was already taken. Fortunately, since it was one seat, it was easy to get it back.

Astounding! But, somehow, not surprising!
