If I get the lowest tier annual pass and decide later that the blocked days don't work for me, do I have the option of upgrading my pass?

You can upgrade your pass but the original date you activated might be the expiration date for the updated one

I have read that has happened but have not checked with UO if that is policy

I've found a thead where @damo confirmed you paid the price difference between, say, power and preferred and expiration date remained the same

but that thread is a ghost from 2011 so policies might have changed

Hmm, I might just call them and ask.

Are Universal's phone people better informed than the Disney ones?

Our trip is in two weeks. I was going to get the mid level pass for discounts and such and my boyfriend would get the low level.

We might end up going for a day or two in July. I see the lowest tier is blocked out for July but only ioa (maybe because of Kong?). We could probably be happy just doing universal studios since we will then return again in early September.

I'm not sure if we'll have a burning desire to do Kong in July, but I want to make sure we'd have the option.

Yes, I always try and use up to date info.

OP.......we find Universal TM to be on the ball with information.......we make sure we speak to someone actually at Universal and not a call centre somewhere..........

Contacting them by email usually ends with them calling you back direct. That's usually our way of contacting if I'm not calling someone I know direct.

The expiry dates have to be the same. Otherwise, it means you got the visits from the first pass for nothing.

Again YMMV, but if you are closeish to your renewal date, I've head of people being able to pay the renewal price and renew early. I don't remember what the new expiration date on the renewed/updated passs was though. It would be more expensive than paying the difference but you'd be getting extra time on your pass as well.

I have been renewing my preferred AP since 2003

Sometimes I wait to a couple of weeks out and sometimes i renew two months out from its expiration

No matter when I do that, my April 20 date is my base date each year

When I renew, has no effect on a change of start date

AP holders can also renew UO to 30 days past its expiration

But the start date still does not change

If a person does not renew, they can buy a new AP
But you won't get the great discount then

No discount on brand new AP s

I am at MK now. If I want to upgrade my tickets for my son and I to annual pass does my son need to be there? He is 13
