So how do I upgrade my 9yo to the adult dining plan? She does not like most of the items offered on the kids menus. We are going in Sept during free dining.

Register her on the resort reservation as 10 years old, and pay the difference for an adult park ticket for her. That is the only way you can do it.

Yes, unless you are within 3 days of arrival, which you are not.

Call Disney reservations (or your travel agent if you used one) and say you want to change your daughter's age to 10. If you are within 45 days of arrival you will have to pay for her ticket upgrade as soon as you do this. If you get a CM who won't do it, call back and get someone else.

We debated with this as well b/c we did not want to limit him to kids' mal choices, but we are unwilling to pay for adult park tix as wel so we just kept him as a child and did buffets.

Really?? I had heard that it is only approx. $25 to change ticket from child to adult.. well worth it to have adult dining....assuming you are going for free dining...

Depending on how many days on your tickets, multiday tickets can cost as little as $25 to upgrade to adult. The fewer days on your tickets, the more it will cost. If you are not on free dining, you are also paying the difference between adult and child dining plan, which is substantial.

no free dining for us and since we are going for Thanksgiving no real discounts this time, either. If we had free dining we would have done it.:thumbsup2

We upgraded our daughter every year, since the age of 7. She's now 11. We have never had a problem upgrading her, even with free dining. The price difference was really not that much. It is a lot of food, but she liked to have the variety. She has never eaten chicken strips etc. Just call Disney travel agent or if you used a different travel agent and tell them you want to upgrade. Very easy:)
